Bugaboo Bee - what colour would you get?

I'm torn! Kind of like the yellow but wonder if it would look silly on a miserable, rainy day. DH likes the khaki but I wonder if it's a bit like trying too hard to be stylish and co-ordinating... Also like the blue. Oh and the red.... Hmmmm, what did you get??

If you like the yellow, get the yellow. It'll be cheerful on a miserable day.

horsemadgal · 07/12/2009 00:22

You can always buy more hoods so you can have all colours.
I have black, red and blue.

CracklinRosie · 07/12/2009 12:33

horsemadgal did you get the cocoon in black to work with all thsoe colours or did you buy matching cocoons each time?

I have had red and yellow cocoons!
I bought the blue hood when DS2 nearly out of cocoon so just got blue footmuff instead.

tallbirduk · 09/12/2009 14:55

I have a yellow one, yellow cocoon and now a yellow footmuff (DS 18 mnths) - it looks cheerful on a rainy day, and sunshiney in the sunshine. And it doesn't show the dirt anywhere near as much as people say - it's only yellow on the hood after all and the footmuff/cocoon wash well.

Which is better the Bee or the Cameleon? Has anyone had both?

BellsandSmells · 09/12/2009 18:10

Depends what you want it for Marsha. The Cameleon is much bigger so if you live in a flat or have a small hallway it would take up a lot of room. Also I heard you have to take the wheels off to fold it up and get it into your car (though I guess that depends on your car) and it doesn't fold in one piece, you obviously have to remove the carry cot. On the other hand, the Cameleon looks very snuggly for baby and people say those big wheels are great if you do lots of country/beach walking.

The Bee is an absolute winner if you are a city dweller, very nippy, turns on a sixpence, very light, collapses in one motion and fits in even a tiny car boot. If you live in London, you might like to know the Bee can get through the normal ticket turnstile without you having to get them to open the big one at the side. It's probably not quite as cosy-looking (to Mum, rather than baby) but once you have baby in a matching cocoon, they think it's fab.

The Bee is £486 (including the cocoon which is pretty much essential). The Cameleon is £749 once you've ordered your tailored fabric parts - again, essential.

Hope this helps. I have done a lot of research on this myself and am going for a Bee. Just need to pick a colour now!

Hi Marsha, I've had both.
I actually sold my Cameleon as hadn't really used it since getting my Bee.
Baby was 3 months when I got Bee and he was at the stage of wanting to climb out of Cameleon carrycot so never went back!

I did love Cameleon too especially in carrycot mode, but there's that annoying in between stage when they seem to small for the bucket seat and too big or won't lie down in carrycot.

I love love love the Bee but not sure how long DS2 will fit in seat as seat isn't huge. He's 10 months now so should get wee while longer.

tallbirduk · 10/12/2009 17:22

DS spent a lot of his naps in the bee (in the cocoon) when he was tiny - probably from about 0 - 6 months, so he obviously thought it was v. cosy Also used the cocoon as a sleeping bag type thing if went out for the day and he needed a sleep at people's houses and stuff, and when we went camping!

I have a friend with the Chameleon (and it was my first choice till I saw one in the flesh) and it is big which put me off. Depends how much storage space you have I guess. Friend has a Golf and it goes in the boot with the wheels on. When we both had tiny babies, I actually thought the Bee / cocoon combo looked cosier than a massive carrycot - and it was nice to be able to prop DS up a tiny bit when he could handle it so he could see something other than sky.

Thanks folks, very helpful.

I like the look of the big one, but admit the smaller one would be alot more practical. An actual shopping trip might be in order (rather than online).

Op I think if I do get the Bee it would be yellow! To answer your question.

camflower · 12/12/2009 15:56

i've heard people say that the yellow attracts insects!

SausageRocket · 12/12/2009 15:57

yellow deffo. I love yellow.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2009 15:44

While I'm here on this thread. Do bugaboos go on sale after Christmas?

Somehow I doubt it, but worth checking as we could always wait.

AmIreallysayingthis · 13/12/2009 16:33

I wondered this too. We've just placed an order for ours as my MIL's friend works in John Lewis and was able to get us a discount. I did wonder if they might be reduced (to less than our discounted price) after Christmas but was reliably informed that this rarely happens unless it's a special promotion or end of line. And given the popularity of the Bee, that's seems unlikely.

fattybumbum · 22/12/2009 22:48

I have the khaki. Look online for slightly cheaper ones. BTW I love my bugaboo but think the change bag is not worth the money.
