Rear-facing option on lie-back buggy - suggestions?

Not even sure that made sense, sorry...

What I mean is, DD2 with her long legs is about to outgrow her pram-top, and not only do I loathe and detest the Jane Carrera chasis it fits on and can't wait to sell the whole bleeding thing, I'm not ready for her to be forward facing cos she's a very social, chatty wee soul at 5 months. I'm also not happy using the sitty-uppy car seat on the chasis all the time, cos I'm a bit anal about lying babes down, at least a bit, when napping.

All the lovely-looking Quinnys and Bugaboo-types that can face both ways seem to have a seat that just swivels back rather than reclining, and I really do want a proper recline, even if it doesn't go completely flat.

Any suggestions? thanks.

What do you mean by a proper recline rather than a swivel? Not sure what the difference is.

We have a Loola Up which goes flat and is very cosy and comfy, and faces back or forward. We like it.

Loola/ Loola up
Mychoice has a recline option on seat unit

I mean a hinged back so babe is lying flat, rather than just tipped back in a sitting position, a la the quinny.

I was shown the loola by a local shop, but they warned me off it, cos they reckoned it was heavy and unreliable, and only stock it cos it does a few things nothing else does. Obviously don't feel that way and I'm not dissing your ride!

i have a i'coo platon i might be selling if you're interested? be warned though, it's bloody heavy! lol
beautiful ride though and lovely to sleep in (well, i assume it is anyway, my boys seemed to enjoy it!)

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 04/12/2009 20:59

It is quite heavy, depends what you're going to use it for. I really like it though, and as for unreliable, I haven't had any problems with it or with the Loola, which I had a before. And it does recline properly with a hinge, it's completely flat and DS2 looks very happy in it.

How about a Mamas and Papas MPX type like this The carrycot part you could sell or keep for yours or friends/relatives next baby.

Tambajam · 04/12/2009 21:16

Bugaboo Bee does a proper recline and the hood comes right up and makes a lovely little nap spot. It really does go pretty flat. I'd climb in there myself if I could.

We have a Cosatto two-in-one that lies flat, raises the back and drops the foot into a push-chair and will face forward or rear. It is a bit heavy and doesn't fold very small, but I never really took it in the car, just used a sling when out and about, so only used it for shopping when walking from home, if you follow me. I think Chicco do a range of multi-option strollers and prams which might be the kind of thing you are looking for.

Bugaboo bee
Loola up (lighter to push than original loola)
Hauck Kurvi
M&P pliko
M&P MPX

nappyaddict · 04/12/2009 21:24

meant to say M&P Pliko Switch.

Which Carrera do you have and why don't you like it?

MrsKitty · 04/12/2009 21:26

We've got a Loola - not had any problems with it, although it is heavy.

NaccetyMac · 04/12/2009 22:55

I have a Mutsy which I love, but it is categorically not for public transport, being mahooooooosive. But DS2 is a big kid and perfectly happy in there.

Mij · 06/12/2009 19:30

Thanks everyone, will follow up soon but have a poorly baby, which is why I haven't been back on the thread.

We also need a not-mahoooosive fold (although now have a Fabia Estate so not as desperate as when we had our 20yr old Golf), we do use public transport, and a buggy board, and don't have loads of space indoors for storage. Don't want much do I .

nappyaddict Not sure which Carrera, it's got four wheels and it's navy blue, and takes the lay-flat car seat and Rebel pro car seat. It has a big umbrella fold. The shopping basket is very small, it feels all plasticy, the brakes are shite (cos you have to jiggle one wheel to get it to engage and it's easy to not spot that it isn't on properly, until it's rolling away), the steering isn't great and the buggy seat is way too big for a six month old - they just slump in it, and can't see much out of it either. I'm sure there are more reasons I hate it but they escape me just now. Bugger, I think I hear more puking...
