I got this today second hand.

My main reason for getting it was the built in mini buggy board type thing. But what I didn't know is that the baby in the buggy needs to be completly upright for them to do this. Is there any way of getting round it? I mainly wanted it for the school runs and when I visit the childrens centre (most weekdays) where its only a 5 min walk so planned to put DD2 (7 months) straight in from the carseat - so need the buggy lying flat and then DD1 (nearly 2) to stand on the step. But am I right in thinking this isn't possible?

And do I need to have the hood off to have her standing on it? Thats the only way I could work it out?

And can I turn it around so baby is facing me? Which might then solve the problem!

Sorry for so many questions! Just gutted as I was really excited about getting it but really this makes a very big difference!

Yes, seat needs to be upright and in forward facing to be able to use the buggyboard, can not be used if you put the car seat on top or in prammette mode. Poss if you took hood off you could have a slight recline maybe??

my 2 year old has always refused to go on the buggyboard. it's too narrow for him. it's also really hard to push one handed, whilst holding his hand.

Takes me back to ds standing on the back, bent 90 degrees because dd was asleep in the seat!! It's a good idea in theory but I always felt it was a bit flimsy to take ds's weight even though M&P assured me otherwise...

Oh golly, how I hate the pliko

I saw such good reviews before getting mine second hand. But was so disappointed! It's rickety and wobbly and so hard to push even with two hands.

Would you be able to sell it on quickish and get a different buggy plus a second hand buggy board?

I'm sorry you've found it won't do what you need it to.

Ps my best built-in buggy board scenario was the cosatto T4 three wheeler. It isn't made any more and rarely comes up on ebay, but silver cross did a very similar model called the S4 I think or something - or was it the sx? Sorry, I can't remember...anyway it had a very strong bar across the back, that ds stood on regularly. However it would also require the seat to be upright to work.

With a baby your best bet is actually gonna be a buggy board I think.

I love my pliko! Not had it long but much prefer it to my Mclauren or mothercare.

naomi83 · 04/12/2009 10:02

I think you have to own a pliko for around 6 months before you come to truely hate them. That's around the time it takes to get rickety and heavy to push, despite having cost an arm and a leg. That's why there are so many on ebay!

Really? Mine is second hand - hope I don't hate mine! Have sold other buggies!
