Bugaboo Bee - how comfy for baby?

Thinking about getting a Bugaboo Bee. My concerns are: 1. The seat doesn't look too comfy for a newborn. 2. Do they have to be strapped in - is that nice for a baby??? Don't they prefer to lie on a cosy mattress, carrycot style? 3. Are they realy lying flat? Isn't this very important at first?

I do love many things about it but I just have this nagging doubt - is the Bugaboo Bee more suited to the comfort of parents than babies?

I have one for my 2wk old dd and love it! its lovely and snuggly with the cocoon in and she looks very comfy in it (wouldnt use it without the cocoon for a newborn personally!) Yes they need to be strapped in to it and it does lie completley flat.
With a carrycot you will prob find the pushchair part isnt suitable until 6 mths as they arent flat, but the carrycot will prob be outgrown by about 3mths......

Used my Bee from when my DS was brand new (he's 18 months now) and it was exactly the right choice.

Would definately get the cocoon - everyone always commented on how comfy DS looked in his, and I think it looked much more snuggly than a carrycot. Plus when he was slightly less newborn floppy, it was nice to have him inclined gently so he could look at me and not just the sky like in a carrycot.

Oh, and he did most of his daytime sleeping in his pram - so I guess he didn't find it too bad

I was probably a very bad parent and strapped the cocoon in but not DS. He was always zipped into the cocoon and that couldn't move so I was pretty happy he couldn't fall out - especially when he was in the parent facing position.

No regrets for me in my Bee purchase - lovely and light, manoeverable, comfy for DS, looks good, seems to wear well........

my ds2 was very comfy in it. he's nearly 2 now and still v comfy in it!
i used cosy toes rather than the cocoon as sales advisor said it would last longer - and it has as still using it now!
I was bad mummy when he was newborn too as strapped in cosytoes but didnt put straps on ds! He was zipped in and there was no way he could fall out as was completely flat and enclosed (much like a carrycot I guess!)
Love mine

DD has been in her Bee since newborn (now 10 months). Agree the cocoon is a must-have, makes it very cosy, snug and secure. DD was always strapped in and always comfy - well, it was the only place she'd sleep during the day so it must have been good!

I think our Bee was out and out our best baby purchase. So light, easy to maneovre, well built and small. Most other buggies just seem so cumbersome...

p.s. yes she was lying nice and flat

I still use my Bee for my 16 month old, while most mums with similar aged babies have given up their expensive travel systems in favour of a lightweight pushchair.

We had the cocoon and had DS strapped in it - he was really cosy in it and the straps were no problem at all. I just made sure they weren't overly tight. I think we used it for a good 6 months before switching to the footmuff.

Yes, about 6 months for the cocoon - I agree - and we found it to be quite handy for other things too - like we went camping when DS was 6 weeks old (in our VW campervan) and he slept in the cocoon on a counter top If we went to people's houses I took it with us too and he went in it for naps. Dead good.
