Will I destroy my 15 week old's back by moving him from carrycot to pushchair?

Hi,

I have DS2 (15 weeks) in a bugaboo cameleon. He still fits in the carrycot but now hates it and cries continually unless he is ready to sleep. I am growing weary of half an hour of wailing on the school run. I know that the cameleon says to shift to the seat from the carrycot at six months but it doesn't seem to me to be any different from other pushchairs which say they are suitable from three months. I had DS1 in the seat of his Phil and Ted's at just under three months because he was huge and no longer fitted in the lie flat position and he seems to be fine.

Obviously I don't want DS2 to be damaged but equally don't want him to cry for a long time. Alternative is a sling but school is a mile away and I like to walk there and take the tram back. Not sure my back would survive the walk there.

4mo? It lies flat doean't it, i'm sure it'll be fine.

It's not like your putting a newborn in an upright buggy or anything (which I saw in town today )

I think we all have that dilemma.

Does your carseat attach to your bugaboo frame? They say that's okay for up to two hours, don't they, so should do you for the school run?

Otherwise, I had assumed that similar guidelines applied to imperfectly flat things, so if you didn't leave him in it too long/to sleep, it should be okay for up to a couple of hours...

no it doesn;t lie flat - it just tilts

why do you think he'll be any happier in the seat?

Thanks for replies. Car seat doesn't attach because it's the wrong make. I bought a second hand cameleon off ebay, rather than re-using DS1's Phil and Ted's precisely because I wanted a buggy which had a proper carrycot so that DS2 could lie flat for longer. So much for that... I think I will probably give the seat a try. When the seat is lying flat the angle is no steeper than the car seat.

Think he'll he happier in the seat because he'll be able to see out. I think he thinks he's being put to bed when he goes into the carrycot. Have tried pictures and toys but he just shouts angrily at them.

ah - at this age I propped dd up against the hood of the carrycot while she was awake (stick a rolled-up blanket behind them), then laid her flat once she'd dozed off

my lo was the same with our carrycot (quinny dreami),
once i put him in the seat he was happy and loved the buggy!
if you roll/fold up a blanket and put it in the bum bit of the seat,it makes it lie a little flatter,thats what i done with mine,

The seat faces you in the Bugaboo, doesn't it? I had DS in the seat of his Loola Up from birth, laid flat until about 3-4 months when he would get annoyed if it was flat and seemed happier when it was tilted slightly, so he could see out but equally he was not sitting bolt upright with his head flopping all over the place. I did prefer the fact it laid flat though as when he fell asleep I could lie it right down.

Also if you do want a sling you can use for a long time I used to use my stretchy wrap for 6 hours+ until DS got to about 7 months.
