Advice needed pls... arthritis in wrists so which pushchair??

Hi all. I'm expecting no 2 and my dd will be 3 by the time little one arrives. I'm looking for a single handled pushchair that can be easily manouvered one handed as will probably be hanging on to dd with other hand lol! Want one where baby faces me to start with and been looking at britax vigour 3 & 4 and the maxi cosi mura. Has anyone had experience with these or any others suggestions. Many, many thanks

Hi there,

My friend has arthritis in both her ankles & wrists & she tried lots of prams out, in the end she got a Bugaboo Cam as she found this the best & easiest for her needs.

The Mura is quite heavy & not so easy to steer one handed IMO.

Not had a Vigour so can't advise on that one.

Other ones I would recommend would be Hauck Infiity as that ticks all the boxes, if you could cope with baby not facing you I would say look at the Baby Jogger range, these are effortless to push one handed & about the only one that hasn't made my wrists ache when doing so. I have the Baby Jogger City Elite & can't recommend it enough, you could get a Carrycot with it so that baby faces you up til about 6 months at least?

The other one I would look at would be theMothercare My3, this is a carrycot & seat unit in 1, faces both ways, one handle & 3 air tyres which makes it much easier to push one handed, really lovely too!

I have the vigour 3 and also had to hold onto my ds whilst pushing. It was so easy to steer and control just with one hand! The Norton storm I have also found really easy to control one handed and this faces both ways as well.

How about an M&P Herbie? Babystyle Oyster? Bugaboo Bee? I am taking delivery of a Vigour 4 later in the week

hmmmm... bugaboo is a tad over our price range, norton storm is gorgeous but again bit too expensive. mura is definitely off the list as way too heavy. but now added the my3 to the list lol! heard terrible reviews of the herbie, although it is a lovely looking pushchair. had the silver cross 3d before and loved it but was way too heavy.

Kelly is it easy to get up kerbs etc one handed with the vigour?

i found the bug the easiest to manouvre and steer and the lightest to push of all i have tried to be honest- the frog/geko are cheaper alternatives to cam! and of course 2nd hand! (the fact i am sellingone honestly has nothing to do with my reccommendation!) [wink}

I had carpal tunnel and so had difficulty pushing prams and regularly had to push one-handed, we got a second hand mothercare Urban Detour off ebay. The most fantastic 50 quid I have ever spent, it's a dream to push and does everything I could want it to do.

hi gigglewitch, can't you only use car sear as rear facing on the detour? thats what put me off with dd, although it is nice and light.
I'm starting to suggest dp does lots of overtime so we could stretch to a bugaboo as they are really nice!
Still going with vigour 3, my niece has the my3 and hasn't been happy with it so has put me off that one.
Have managed to time it so i miss all the baby shows except the big one in london in february so not going to be able to go and play with lots of pushchairs to help my decision making!! lol

Urban detours are V long and very hard to get up a kerb with one hand (hard to get them up at all actually!) also not particularly light.

Have you looked at any of the bebecars?

Icandy Peach is lightweight and one handed, although has a £500 price tag (eek).

You could probably get a 2nd hand bug cam for £350/£400. You could always put a wanted on the sales board.

now added the nurse hello to the list, not doing a very good job of narrrowing it down!!
dp has said a firm no the the bugaboo's. doesn't like them at all

Hi I found the vigour easy to get to get up and down one handed and I still consider it my favorite pram which considering I run a shop full of pushchairs I think is a good test

The Norton storm we retail for £469 for the complete package of pushchair, carry cot, car seat, bag, footmuff and raincover.

DON'T mention the norton storm, absolutley love it but... my dad would be over the moon as he's bike mad as well!! Kelly where is your shop based? not south west by any chance? Not got a huge range of independants in devon

Hello I hope someone can help

I was told by the time I am 30 I will have arthritis in my wrists. I was told the more I njur them the younger I will be when it sets in.

I need to know about any complacations arthritis can have when it comes to holding bathing a baby as well as other things that can affect both being able to do things for you child and the arthritis

Please help me I really need to know as it is urgent

If you can get to Kiddicare in Peterborough they have the most amazing array of prams and pushchairs for you to try out. I find it really useful when I was looking for a lightweight pushchair when I was diagnosed with arthritis. Good luck!

Don't have any suggestions, but have rsi in both wrists (which is getting worse now baby is getting bigger!) and have the bebeconfort streety. A great pushchair but heavy to push - especially one handed and difficult to get up kerbs, so would suggest this is avoided.
Toyed with the Bee but it seemed like it would blow over in the slightest gust of wind so decided against it - a good thing as the streety almost blew over on our first ever outing!!

Good luck finding something - I can totally sympathise with the pain - it totally takes the edge off enjoying time with my baby.

just wanted to add i had a nurse hello and it was FAB, im so sad i sold it as i miss it

  • it worked well with a buggyboard too,

my loola up is really light to push/steer, quite heavy to put in/out of car though,
