Front or rear facing?

Currently investigating travel systems. I've been thinking of getting one with a rear facing pushchair so I can see the baby and its supposed to help development of communication skills. However others say their babies want to look out and see the world at an early stage! What are others experiences? There are fewer rear facing options so we need to decide on this before we start looking in earnest.

i had a pushchair which was forward facing only and never even thought about this until after he was born. Really missed eye to eye contact when out walking especially when he was small and so did the grandparents. Yes would agree they like to look out and see the world as they get older, but i would def recommend a parent facing pram/pushchair, most of them you can turn to face forward as well any way so you have the best of both worlds, as does your little one. hope this helps, good luck

i prefer rear-facing. they can strill see the world! they can look around you and to the sides, but they also get the benefit of being able to chat along with you

I found I really preferred rear facing when DS was a baby. I'd have hated not to be able to see him properly. He could still see out, and didnt show any indication of wanting to be turned to face the front until he was at least 6 months.

I've only had forward facing (3 wheelers) and my dc's seemed to like it, I don't think they would have been too impressed looking at my frowny, sleep deprived face . I liked being able to show them everything. Something that gives you both options is ideal though.

Rear facing - I never used my pushchair/pram as anything else as DS liked to be talked to, and to talk to us when he got to that age

rear facing. i needed a 3 wheeler and it took me over 4 months to find one that was rf had decided on the jane or quinny but wasn't happy as they would be ff at 6 months when they got out of the carrycot, but i finally found the teutonia!! ds is still rf at 17 months.

I didn't have a rear-facing with ds1 as I didn't even think about it - I had little experience of pushchairs and didn't give it much thought. It was only once I'd had him that I realised how lovely it would have been to see him whilst pushing him along. I used to look at other mums with rear-facing with envy and sadness.
I'm expecting dc2 and definitely will be getting a pushchair with both rear- and front-facing options. The babystyle oyster is on my shortlist. It's new out and looks fab, ticking all my boxes. (the only thing I'm not sure of is whether it's fully reclinable. very important. does anyone know? reviews are conflicting on this.

The Oyster is almost fully reclining and although it looks as flat as some prams that say suitable from birth, Babystyle are saying the seat unit on the Oyster is not. They are recommending it be used with the carrycot for use from birth. We are having really good reviews on this pushchair since it has been released and it has been much more popular than was initially expected, which is why it has sold out with Babystyle twice already!

Kellyatbabyguds, thanks v much for the info on the oyster. I'm not surprised it's sold out twice as it appears very well designed at such a good price. Am hoping to find a stockist in London/just outside so I can try it out.
