I'm sceptical that those 'reviews' on the internet aren't actually written by the manufacturers, who have staff to write up their buggy and cuss down thier rivals online. All my buggy buys have been based solely on these reviews. After all, ebay does the same thing quite openly by employing LiveWorld to 'create, monitor and empower' their Forums, where ebayers go to publicly complain about the site.

I noticed all the Jane Powertwin online reviews were gushing, interspersed with a handful of Anti-Janes written in such a similarly faux-dumb-housewife typo I'm quite convinced they're red herrings!

My Jane Powertwin Pro tips over when going up kerbs, steps or slight cambers. If you're petite or slight, you ain't gonna keep it upright and your kids will fall out . It's not rocket science, the centre of gravity and fact it's balanced on one fork, not two for extra strength, either side of the front wheel.

Why isn't this pulled by trading standards?

I need the money to pay for the new double buggy I need, so I've put mine on ebay, but feel really guilty as whoever buys it will face the same problem.

I needed a tandem rather than side-by-side so I could bus about. The Jane had good reviews on the 'net, yet I rarely saw them on the street, and there's always hundreds for sale on ebay. Now I know why!

How many women can honestly admit to putting vanity over practicality when it comes to choosing a pushchair? (Ahem, how many Quinny Zapps do you see nowadays, people having bought one for it's funky looks then realised how utterly impractical they actually are!)

Have since bought a brand new Out n About Nipper 360. I keep hearing there's no such thing as the 'perfect' double, but I've yet to fault it.

Everyone has their own preference of course, but I seriously wonder how there is such a wide margin of Preference, given that some of these double buggies are simply more trouble than they're worth, yet they look so cool, right? I'm not promoting the Nipper over any other double, it's my own long journey to having found the ideal double buggy that inspires me to admit such, but in the event of no local buggy supermarket to test-drive various models and no word of mouth recommendations from other mums, we rely on 'net reviews.

Those reviews led me to the Jane Powertwin and a near accident involving a newborn and toddler on a busy main road.

Please make the effort to test-drive buggies with kids in situ before making your expensive purchase. Not just a little shunt back and forth either! Take net reviews with a pinch of salt!

everyone feels different about buggies,
just because you didnt like yours,doesnt mean everyone else feels the same,i have a friend who has a powertwin and loves it,hers has never tipped,maybe it depends how heavy the child at the front is?

i had a zapp and it was my fav buggy yet,i will have another once this baby is older,

i do however agree that something on the internet is VERY different to actually seeing it in real life,

i LOVED the streety until i looked at it in a shop and i really didnt like it!

my powertwin tipped into a busy road as well when i had a toddler in the front. but i know loads of people who love theirs. much better with twins i would think and better if the heavier child sat in the back seat (but then thats the only one that lies flat). i saw someone with the toddler in the back and baby in car seat on the front seat.

the best doubles i have tried (and i have had loads) are the mountain buggy double urban and the icandy pear. didnt go for looks went for ease of use. the pear is my car buggy as it fits in whole and my twins car seats click on it and the mountain buggy is my walking from home to school and the beach/woods/fields etc i need it to fit double buggyboards and it goes anywhere (but doesnt fit in the doctors).

I have had loads of doubles and at the mo am thrilled with my P&T Sport. Have not had a problem with it yet.

I had a Buzz which I thought was absolute shite - I couldn't bloody steer the thing for love nor money - it was always pulling one way or another.
I have a Zapp though that I have had since 2005, it is currently serving DS3 and we love it. It does look a bit knackered now, but everything is still working perfectly.

I saw my first Powertwin 'on the road' this weekend - honestly had never seen one in action before then - a proud dad was sort of, wagging it above his head - either trying to demonstrate how light it was to anyone looking in his direction, or how super strong he was...? Anyway....

Wish I had bought the P&T in 2005, but I know lots of people hate these too, so it's swings and roundabouts i think.

I was given a jane powertwin by SIL who LOVED it! But it lasted 2 trips for the reasons you give milkmonster plus DS1 only 20months at the time was too tall for the canapy to fit over his head (It was early June & hot then) and the raincover was far to impractical to take out with you! Toddler's legs were also too long to fit comfortably on footrest so he would dangle them, or try to kick the wheel or things that were in kicking reach- not good for the crap stabilty of the JPT! And poor newborn DS2 always looked like he was going to slide & full out of seat! So agree totally on the safety aspect.

Although I love my BJCM it can be a pain in shops (especially now that the shops are starting to stuff their aisles ready for christmas)

So yeah as yet there isnt a perfect double but then again there isnt a perfect single either!
