Travel stroller advice needed!!

Hi everyone!

We are looking to buy a second stroller for travel (going on a long-haul flight soon). We currently have a nuna TRIV next which we love but don't want to wreck it (taken on one flight previously but has to be checked).

Our daughter is 15 months. We are planning to have another child, possibly 2 so it's a longer term investment.

Current options are (in order of current thinking):

  1. Joolz Aer+

  2. Silver Cross Clic 1 (this is much more affordable and seems to do everything the others do - is there a catch?)

  3. Bugaboo butterfly 1 (but doesn't lie flat - if we had another child the others say can be used from birth/younger which would be convenient BUT have read some people wouldn't do that anyway?!)

4)Babyzen yoyo (EVERYONE seems to have these including our family members but baby just looks so slouched in it/ unsupported (our little one hates to lie back) and the fold seems so fiddly - What is the hype???)

We're caught between not wanting to spend loads because we have another pram that we love and is fairly compact itself (so this would only be used for travel) but also not wanting to get something we hate in years to come.

ANY ADVICE PLEASE! THANK YOU! xx

We have the bugaboo butterfly and love it. The new model does lie flat if you are concerned about this (it’s never been a problem for us).

Bugaboo butterfly all day long. We actually had an egg 2 which was used until LO was about 9 months, bought the bugaboo for a uk break as there wasn’t enough room in the car for the Egg.

From that day the egg was never used again. I bought the liner and footmuff and the butterfly because the main pushchair.

As PP has said think the most recent bugaboo butterfly does lie flat.

We got the butterfly 2 and absolutely love it havent used our ocarro since getting it. Also borrowed my friends yoyo and didnt like it anywhere near as much. The butterfly is bigger but still easily fits in the overhead locker

We got the butterfly and returned it and got the Joolz we love it and would highly recommend it 😃

Joolz aer. I was interested in the silver clic, but when I tried it in the shop it felt quite flimsy to me. The joolz is more money but feels more premium and sturdy.

Ergobaby Metro+ - have a look! It’s so good - we don’t use our bigger pram now

Team Bugaboo Butterfly here. We got the 1 and it doesn’t lie flat but it didn’t bother our toddler. We tried this, the silver cross and yoyo in John Lewis but decided on Butterfly as it has higher handle (suits my tall husband better), big basket and more sturdy (silver cross clic feels so flimsy!). We didn’t try Joolz Aer as it wasn’t available to try but in the end we couldn’t find a secondhand Joolz Aer around us while the Butterfly is a lot easier to find.

Whichever you choose, suggest that you try to find a physical shop and try it yourself (with your husband or other carer) as it will feel different for everyone.

I'm a nanny and have recently been a travel nanny for a few years so have tried most!

  1. HATE the YoYo, absolutely hate it, feels flimsy, too narrow and an uncomfortable use and not great for naps. I think it was the first cabin pram but ones that have come out since are far better
  2. Bugaboo butterfly is very good, the newer one lays flat and is worth getting vs the butterfly 1, it's a nice push and looks comfy for babies and toddlers!
  3. Joolz Aer, I don't really get the popularity, its fine but I think bugaboo is nicer to push
  4. Silver cross, Ive had 3 families use it, all disliked it and 2 replaced it! I thought it was flimsy and shit personally 😂

My favourite is actually the Cybex Coya, lovely push, seat is roomy and lies flat and seems incredibly comfy, pretty good space underneath, good hood...I really really like it and will use over the big "main" pram when not travelling with a family but am in their city (and as someone who generally dislikes travel prams as they're often too narrow to comfortably push, this is a big thing!). I recommend it often and haven't had anyone dislike it yet

We had a Joolz aer and loved it! It held its value reasonably well when we sold it on when we were finished with it.

We have a clic. It folds nicely, pushes fine, lies flat. We use it a lot, mainly for nursery runs. i do covet the butterfly though and would go for that if buying again solely because you can buy a buggy board for it and the clic doesn’t take one. I can’t justify buying a new stroller but it does mean we use our big pram for longer trips for the buggy board for my eldest.

We did a LOT of research on this. Liked the Butterfly but lie flat is a must for us, having had an earlier pram napper for all of our hols. Butterfly 2 would solve this (not available when we got ours). Joolz Aer was nice but everything, literally everything, was an added extra. My sister is a nanny and uses this and doesn’t really get on with it. I was planning on getting the YoYo but there’s absolutely no shopping basket space (a must for us on holiday), and like a PP I found the Silver Cross travel prams (Clic and Jet) to be really flimsy.

We ended up with a Joie Parcel LX, it was the most similar to the Joolz (at a fraction of the cost), felt the most sturdy, and had the rain cover and bar included and a big shopping basket. The only thing which wasn’t was the strap which we got off Amazon/ebay. It comes with universal car seat adapters which has been very handy for in the car and on holiday (as the car seat attaches to the travel pram). It also has much bigger wheels which are helpful for beaches/uneven surfaces (most of our hols are Greece or Italy which we’d struggle with tiny wheels). It’s not technically cabin approved but the wheels come off easily to make it smaller and we’ve been allowed to take it on 4 flights so far - we just carry it and no one bats an eyelid. So far very happy with it.

joolz aer is great and can be rented on sites like Baboodle - much more affordable than buying new and easy to return
