Extremely stressed trying to decide. Looking for pushchair/pram for new born, ideally one that converts into a double as I hope to have another baby in a year or 2. Looking for a car seat that rotates too.

Affordability isn’t a factor as I’ve saved £2000 for this. I want something that makes life easier such as the swivelling car seat or a multifunctional travel system. Mama’s and Papa’s recommended their Occaro2 because the pushchair is sleep safe and doubles as a cot with a stand so could use that as an alternative to a Moses basket downstairs but I forgot to ask if it converts to a double. Not sure if they were just trying to push their own brand more. They recommended the bundle that comes with the Cybex Cloud T car seat. Please can anyone help me or direct me to where I can compare? I’m getting really stressed. No available appointments for John Lewis either.

Bugaboo Donkey 100%! We had the Ocarro for my daughter and it was fab but does not convert to double, now pregnant with number 2, 18 month age gap and bought the Bugaboo Donkey and it’s amazing, wish I’d just bought it the first time!

Limon87 · 29/09/2025 15:21

honestly we bought a buggy for two, and it was just huge. We’ve had lots of issues having a second, now our son is out of the buggy pretty much and I just really wish we didn’t choose our first buggy the way we did; as like you affordability wasn’t the issue. We got the uppababy vista and it was amazing but absolutely huge compared to others.

Now look I’m sure you won’t have the fertility issues we’ve had, so that’s not my point. However if I could redo it all again I’d get the buggy of our choice with one in minds then sell that and get a second hand double buggy when the time is right.

I also wouldn’t be too concerned about the price etc. You want a good safety rating etc but from what I can see some of the Joie buggies are great and so much cheaper.

Hope that helps.

@Jellybunny56Can I ask which bugaboo donkey as all the ones I can see are for twin or double? I currently only will have 1 new born but wanted one that could in the future convert…

also @Limon87 what are your thoughts on the silver cross reef 2 or the joolz aer2 or the Occaro 2?

I replied to your other thread too 😅

We bought the nuna mixx or demi and sold it when I was pregnant with our 2nd it was an absolute tank and sooooo heavy.
A 16kg pram is fine with a 3.5kg newborn
But with a second seat you are push 18-20kg PLUS a 15kg 2.5yo and an 8kg 10m old... not so much....

If you are in any kind of city do yourself a favour... just get a yoyo or leclerc. They get big fast! My oldest was massive and out of the basinette at 5m...

I got a leclerc from harrods i rate it.
Reasons i preferred it..
the basinette is v secure and comfy and overall seat comfort are much better than the yoyo IMO and fully reclines. Customer service is also 5/5.

The reality is even if you have 2 under 2 which I did you dont really need a double THAT often. Also a lot of 2 yr old INSIST on walking so the buggy is redundant.

Try and keep some of that £2k for some hartbeeps classes!

Everyone i know was buying the egg at the time for £1.5k they all resold them before their oldest was a year...

Bugaboo donkey isnt bad if you walk a lot and are adamant you want a double.

The bugaboo donkey converts from a single to a double pushchair. It fits what you want. Look on the website at all the 'donkey' options and you'll see you can buy it as a single that converts or as a double for the additional sibling/ twins. I considered it but I didn't like the look of the side basket as a single pushchair. As a double I think it looks and pushes great and would have bought it if I'd had twins.

I bought the silver cross wave as I had exactly the same plan as you. My children are 2 years apart. I love the wave still and I'm very happy with it but it is very bulky and won't fit in smaller car boots.

You don't need a John Lewis appointment to push the pushchairs around. My now 5 year old dd loves pushchair shopping as much as I do so we always make a beeline for them in John Lewis to road test a couple for fun around the shop floor.

Depending on where you live you could see when the next baby show is happening as all the big pushchair brands are there to look at/ push around.

If you want a really compact option, the babyzen yoyo has created an adapter which connects two prams together. You can buy a single and then add a second when the next baby comes. At one toddler group I've been to a mum with twins used this set up.

We got this car seat, its been great and pretty much covers all ages.

On the pram, don’t overthink it. I spent £500 on one that had car seat, pram and pushchair. It’s barely been used since DC turned one, whereas the much cheaper (still safe) buggy has! Perhaps look for something second hand and upgrade to the double when you need to?

360° Rotating Car Seats

Shop Cosatto's car seats with seamless 360-degree rotation, suitable from birth (40cm). Extended Rear Facing, includes ISOFIX base, and 5 Point Plus Anti-Escape System.

The pram is the bugaboo donkey and it can be both a single & a double! So we bought it for our two but currently only have our 17 month old (8 months pregnant) so are just using it as a single. Perfect as a single, much better than the Ocarro was, and in literally about 3 clicks it pulls out into a double and you just pop the other seat/bassinet in.

amispeakingintongues · 29/09/2025 20:24

Another vote for don’t overthink it. Pram - you’ll use it until baby is 1 tops then you’ll opt for something lighter like a stroller that doesn’t have a heavy bulky base like all travel systems do.

TheHillIsMine · 29/09/2025 20:27

I wouldn't be buying a pram that is for two incase I couldn't have the second.

Pram with carry cot then buggy. Sling and same buggy or a side by side umbrella buggy. One in front are awful.

LabradorVibe · 29/09/2025 20:28

I have a cybex gazelle s and really love it. Just using it as a single, but it can work as a double. There's tons of options for the seat configurations when used as a double which I thought was handy.

For now, it has a huge basket, and is easy to fold because it can be folded with the seat attached. I don't have a car so ability to get it into a car boot wasn't a priority. Comfort for walking long distances was more key! The downside is that it's heavy, so I wouldn't fancy trying to carry it up stairs on my own (whereas I can lug my cybex eezy travel pushchair up/down stairs).

Good luck! If you Google for a baby showroom / pram store near you, you might somewhere with a few of the brands in stock so you can have a go pushing them around. I had thought I'd want an iCandy or uppababy but I just preferred the feel of the cybex.

Oaktreet · 29/09/2025 21:29

It probably depends on your lifestyle, personality and children personalities. I had 2 under 2, eldest now 3 and still using double pram (uppababy Vista).I find them useful when you have children close in age because you can do naps on the go of you need to be somewhere for the other child and you can keep one contained if you need to.

Someone said tandem prams are awful but they fit through doors so I prefer them.

I did buy a stroller for the car though because I didn't want to be dismantling and hauling my big pram in and out the car each time.

stitty · 29/09/2025 21:30

i have the egg3. Can convert to a tandem. I’ve got the maxi cosi 360 pebble which spins and also fits on the egg pram

I have no idea about current pram options, but I just wanted to come on and ask how you were doing?
Is ‘extremely stressed’ truly how you are feeling about this? If so, then to be honest that is a bit concerning. Have you talked to your doctor or midwife about your mental well-being? You have so many decisions to come in the world of parenting. Trying not to get super stressed about decisions is going to be important.

SweetBaklava · 29/09/2025 23:06

We bought an Uppababy Vista for this exact reason. At the time there was a toddler seat attachment that could be added - we bought this when I got pregnant with DC2 and it was great! There are newer models now, but god I loved it!

BambiBambi44 · 30/09/2025 03:42

Another vote for Vista, fantastic pram! Endless positioning option, huge basket, the lot!

Yes, I was thinking this too. I hope you're ok OP. Are you very close to your due date OP and it's the time pressure making you stressed? One of my DN's was born slightly premature, and their DPs hadn't even bought a pram yet! They bought one when they were a few weeks old in the end - and it was all absolutely fine.

CrispAppleStrudels · 30/09/2025 07:00

I have an uppababy vista which is a great single buggy. You can then add a second seat to turn into a double. However it becomes extremely heavy. If you are planning 2 within 18months, it might be a good option. But otherwise, id say buy a single buggy and then when baby#2 comes along, buy either a mountain buggy duet or an out n about double nipper. Far better set up for two DC. There are 2yrs 9m between my two DC and we mostly managed with single buggy + sling / carrier and then single buggy + buggy board.

For car seats, 100% buy the avianaut pixel pro with the spinning base. Best car seat out there and it uses maxi cosi adapters so fits on any buggy that says a maxi cosi will fit. Don't go to Mamas + Papas or John Lewis or even worse Halfords. They give awful car seat advice. Find an independent retailer near you. If you are willing to give your county / general area, someone might be able to tell you where your nearest independent retailer is.

Hi currently going through the process to adopt my ADs 3 siblings has anyone any experience of using the hoppi instead of a double pushchair ? Thanks

Something very similar to the Hoppi was recalled for being dangerous so I'd avoid to be honest. Look at the Out N About + Front Rider. Depending on the ages of the children, its an attachment that goes on the front of the buggy and allows them to sit on the front plate.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 22/02/2026 14:02

I have 2 yoyo buggy’s 4 year old and 2 year old we just clicked them together was easier cus we could take a kid each in a small buggy instead of only having a giant double buggy all the time

was way easier for holidays too

we are in London though and short on space and always flying cus parents live abroad so need compact travel friendly
