Bugaboo Fox 5 / Dragonfly??

Hi all. Has anyone got the Fox 5? I’ve been set on it a while but I’ve seen so many people say they regretted getting an expensive travel system as it’s just large… a lot of people say they change to a lighter stroller very quickly.

so… if you have the Fox 5, do you regret it? How long did you use it for? We live semi rural so we mainly need to drive places. I really love the Fox 5 but I really don’t want to fall into the trap of buying a big travel system to only really use it a few months!

TIA x

I have the fox cub which is slightly smaller and ‘no frills’. My child is 19 months and I still use it 80% of the time. I like that it folds in one piece unlike many like it. I do have another pushchair (not a cabin approved type) but that one is mainly used for dog walks now. However the fox cub was also good for dog walks, just not as easy to fit everyone and the dogs in the car with the fox cub in there.

I think if you regret it depends on your lifestyle. The Fox 5 is a great pushchair, comfortable for the baby and is one of the best all terrain four wheel pushchair but because of that it’s big, bulky and heavy. If you need that capability then you’ll probably have a great time with it, but if your lifestyle is more about putting it in and out of the boot and you mostly use your pushchair on pavements and smoother park or forest paths rather than over bumpy less maintained trails then you may well find it too much pushchair and get annoyed at the size and weight of continually lugging it around in and out of the boot.

What I did before I bought my pram was spent my days out on Pram Watch! What I found for my lifestyle is that either people were happily pushing Yoyos around so a Fox wouldn’t be needed, or no-one had a pushchair at all because the terrain was just unsuitable (really steep/ steps/ stepping stones) so we’d need a carrier for that anyway. Might we worth also looking at what pushchairs people are using for their toddlers in your town/village too for a sense check. If the babies are all in iCandies and Foxes and the toddlers are all in Yoyos and Aers then that might say something too.

Agree with a pp that it depends on lifestyle.

I have the Fox 3 from when I had my first 2+ years ago and yes it's big but it's a smooth ride and easy to control. The suspension is good and DS was always comfortable in it.

Personally I don't drive so I'm on public transport a lot. Having a large basket was very helpful with the shopping.

I moved DS1 from the bassinet to the seat when he was 5 months old and I used it until I had to switch it back to a bassinet for my second child when he was 2. He was always comfortable despite being tall, and the canopy was great for on the go naps.

I have the buggy board and pop the toddler on that for short local trips (because I don't trust him not to run off when he gets bored or sees something more interesting on days out).

I have the mountain buggy duet for taking them both out together, and the city mini gt for the nursery run (baby goes in carrier when it's my turn) and the Fox is, hands driven, my favourite and the one I would keep it forced to choose just one.

From what I can see, the Fox 5 is a slicker version of the 3 so I say do it do it do it and don't listen to anyone else ;)
