Winter is coming… Foot Muffs!

Any recommendations for a foot muff? I’m assuming that there’s a certain one which everyone loves for ease? Theres a few different styles out there and some look like they could be a faff with DD in and out the pram.

anything I should be watching out for? zips? Hoods? Folds? Fur?!

@pinkpepperclove Probably helpful to say which pram you have 😊

I have the Uppababy Vista v2… doesn’t have to be the same brand

@pinkpepperclove Others may be able to help with suggestions but if you see any then just a reminder to double check the straps on the pram. I bought a “universal” footmuff to use in a Cybex pushchair we had and the set up of the straps meant it wouldn’t fit on the pushchair.

We had the previous version of the Vista and had their branded one. Personally I wouldn't have bought the branded one at the time but my mum bought the pram as a gift and insisted on getting it. It was actually really good! Very warm and stayed well on the buggy, no hassle. If it's in budget I'd recommend it.

Ok, my youngest is nearly 13, so prams havn't been a thing for 10+ years for us, but we had this Kaiser XL footmuff. It was amazing. Fits any pram. Super warm and waterproof. We used it as a sleeping bag for camping holidays too. Pricey, but well worth the investment.

Check if the proper branded one is easier to fix to your pram - they often have a fold-over top which fits precisely, or popper/zip directly on, whereas some of the universal ones just constantly slide down, which is extremely annoying, especially once you have a toddler who may resist being placed in the buggy. They should come with a way to fix them in place, but sometimes it's just badly designed and doesn't work with your pram. Since you have a popular pram model you may also find some third-party but specific model compatible ones which can be good.

I think a zip is good so that it can completely close rather than poppers/velcro and you can easily open it up when going into a heated building. If the zip runs down the centre, you can drape the edges over the sides whereas if it runs down one side, you might find that it drags on the floor unless there is some easy way to secure it. If it has furry bits, then check it won't bother the baby by tickling their face, and bear in mind whatever is near their mouth will often be chewed.

It's helpful to have a part at the bottom which zips open so that when they get bigger and wear shoes, the bottom can be folded back and let the feet rest on the footrest rather than getting mud/water/snow all inside the footmuff, but it still acts as a blanket for their legs.

Lastly, machine washable is a must.
