Lightweight pram for second floor flat

Does anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight pram that you can carry up stairs to a second floor flat?

DD is 4 months old and living in the sling at the moment because of the faff of getting our silver cross up and down the stairs (we leave the frame in the car but the bassinet is so heavy even that up the stairs on my own with DD is getting too much). I'm happy using the sling some of the time but my back is starting to ache and Im craving any time where I could get her in to the flat still asleep when I can sit down without her on me. I do love the sling cuddles but 4 months in I'm in desperate need of a short break in the day - she will only nap in her bed for c.30mins once or twice in the early morning so getting out for a walk is a necessity to help her sleep and it would be really nice to be able to have an alternative to the sling! Any suggestions welcome please :)

Everyone I know (including us at the time) who lives in a flat has a Bugaboo Bee.

I had a mountain buggy nano which was great and lightweight but started using it when my child was a bit older.

The YoYo is good, I had that when I lived in a 3rd fl flat. It has a shoulder strap so you can carry it folded whilst having hands free for baby and it’s about as light as they come. I still don’t think I’d willing carry it up 2 flights unfolded with baby in it if that’s what you mean though?? I can do it, if for example I’m at a tube station with steps and there’s no one around to help but it’s still really awkward just because a pram isn’t small, even a tiny one like a YoYo! There is a removable bassinet but you’re right at the size limit of that with a 4MO so don’t waste your money and go straight to the 6 months + configuration. If DD fell asleep on a walk out I just used to go hang at the nearby coffee shop until she woke up.

Yoyo is good.
You still need the sling though. You have to put the baby in the sling and then fold the pushchair to carry it upstairs.

Oh sorry, I think I meant YoYo! We did have a Bee and it was fine on the stairs and is very popular round here (which is mainly flats). YoYo was even better though

You don’t need a sling! Of course nothing stopping you using one if that’s your preference but you can just as easily carry the baby up in your arms- that’s what I always did anyway! We lived in a 3rd fl walk up until DD was 2.5 and I’ve never owned, nor felt the need to own a sling.

It’s backpack out from underneath and put on, fold the handlebar down since that requires 2 hands, baby out and hold with 1 arm whilst you use the other hand to finish folding the YoYo, sling it over your shoulder leaving both hands free to hold baby and then hit those stairs. Takes 1 minute max and that was the best shape I’ve ever been in, I gained like 10lbs in the first few months after we moved 🤣

Depends on how squirmy your baby is and how comfortable you are carrying them upstairs with only one arm. For me, the sling was necessary. Also if you have any items in your hands them don’t fit in a backpack (coat you’ve removed, extra shopping bag?) then the sling helps.

That’s why I’d really recommend the YoYo- it has a shoulder strap so you can have both hands free for baby. A squirmy baby has nothing on a toddler who doesn’t want to climb the stairs and is having a strop, and you’re not getting them into a sling 🤣 And you keep the coat on, which wasn’t the most pleasant as I lived in Chicago so my winter coat weighed more than your average newborn but consider it a contribution to the workout! I adjusted to never, literally never, buying stuff in person unless DH was on hand for carrying duties. Amazon same day shipping for the win! It takes some adjustments but you figure it out don’t you? Sounds like you found the sling really useful so that’s good! For me I’d say not useful at all but I would have been lost without Amazon 🤣

In a similar boat - in a car crash with pram in boot and it was destroyed and I also live in a flat and looked at the likes of the yoyo and Joolz aer etc but wanted parent facing - really like the bugaboo dragonfly which folds with one hand and has a shoulder strap too which I really liked for me my only worry is the wheels as we live more suburban than city but plan on going out this weekend to try it in store and look at the cybex balios and gazelle
