Buggy board - how to extend buggy handles or solve problem of my feet hitting it

I have a Lascal mini buggy board which attaches to the above buggy. It attaches well but I find it difficult to walk behind it pushing while the toddler is on the board and the baby is in the buggy. My feet keep hitting the board or I have to take tiny steps. I can't find anything to extend the handles just a few inches. How do other people manage? I'm wondering if I'm just being stupid about this? I'm not particularly tall. The handles of the buggy are quite chunky as I had thought about fitting a bicycle handlebar extender. I'd be grateful for suggestions.

My solution was, remove buggy board, never use again and use a double buggy.

I didn't have the time to take little steps, it's bad for posture too.

Thanks for replying. I started with a double buggy but it was very heavy for getting up and down kerbs etc and this is much better. Also, toddler likes to walk and I can hook the board up at that time. I just wondered if anyone is managing successfully with one. My buggy is the Silver Cross Pop

Ooh crikey, I've got a Pop and I can't imagine fitting a buggy board to it. Sorry it's not a he,Paul answer, but I've only ever really seen them used with travel systems that have adjustable handles which give more room.

They only really work well on parent facing prams and them child can stand underneath the other side of the handle so they aren’t in your way. The bugaboo bee parent facing with bugaboo board works well (you can probably get an older model cheap now secondhand)

How long have you been using it ? When I first got my buggy board I was the same but you get used to it and I walk normally with it now and can walk at a fast pace to catch the other children

Tolee · 06/02/2024 18:25

I've only just started using it, so perhaps I will get used to it. There were pictures of similar buggy styles using it when I was looking at them. We are unlikely to be walking long distances with it. I wondered whether there was an extension that could be bought for the handles, but I can't seem to find a suitable one. Thanks for responses.

OP I see a lot of parents pushing their pram from the side as opposed to where you normally stand behind a pram iyswim

Autumn1990 · 06/02/2024 18:39

I sold it on Facebook and used a double instead

Agree with this - we bought a secondhand Bee quite cheap, specifically because it seemed the best compact buggy to work with a buggy board. The board is also designed to for the child to stand on one side, so it allows you to walk fairly normally.

We do have a double Phil and Ted's too - sometimes I'll walk a couple of miles to get somewhere and it's uncomfortable to be on the board for that long, and the older one will still nap after a busy day. But the Bee and buggyboard is better for short journeys or getting around on public transport or crowded/narrow places, so we alternate between them depending on the journey.

@Tolee wondering if you've found a solution in the end? We just got a silver cross pop secondhand as our double was getting too big, but now the board is really annoying. We use it all the time so really need a solution!

Tolee · 22/02/2025 23:24

@Bearbookagainandagain not really. The older one is now mostly walking or scootering so I hook the board up with the long cord and let it down for him to stand on if needed. It’s not comfortable to push though
