Joolz Aer Plus or Nuna Triv Next

Hello, i live in London (pretty centrally) and am about to have my first baby. We don't have a car and live near a tube with no lift. I am looking for an every day pushchair and the two i'm debating between really are the Joolz Aer Plus and Nuna Triv Next. I guess what i'm wondering is how much do people end up folding and carrying pushchairs around London or do realistically the baskets get filled with bumph so you need someone to help carry up the stairs anyway? Joolz Aer Plus is quite a bit lighter and easier to swing over the shoulder which sounds like it could be a big plus but it doesn't have the same features as the nuna triv next (extendable handle - useful for my husband, reversible seat, bigger basket, easier lie flat options etc). I'd love any opinions on either pushchair views on actually what it's like travelling around London with a baby? Thanks!

cant answer Re the brands but…I live in London. When we had our first we were in central London at a tube station without step free access! It was a few years ago so we got the bugaboo bee at the time as it was one of the smallest with the option to be parent facing! Now there’s a lot more choice. I also used the sling a lot.

The thing that made a big difference: was a decent backpack style changing bag (to carry all the stuff from buggy baskets) - and buggy clips to cup it easily into the buggy. THIS also meant when traveling, I could carry baby and my valuables and let others help me (or take up) the buggy without wondering what would be stolen.

If im honest. I’ve never managed to have one buggy do everything and often buy and sell them preloved as I find as my kids grow, we need different functionalities. But as newborns, one of the things I valued was feeling they were “protected” so a buggy that was small enough to fit on the bus/tube, but sturdy enough that I didn’t worry it would be knocked over!

Ive two toddlers now, and one due. And had two yo-yo’s (Again, not what I’d buy if starting from now, there are so many great alternatives) but I didn’t use them until babies were 8 ish months. Now I think they are brilliant as if my 1.5 year old falls asleep I can lift him and the buggy up the steps by myself if needed. BUT when they were younger I loved the parent facing options the Bee gave and the better storage!! And the weight didn’t matter as much as baby’s as lighter!

Oh and actually I very rarely completely folded a buggy when they were tiny but did use the option to fully “push down” the handle in cafe’s all of the time to make the buggy as small as possible and that was great. It meant I could pull/fit it in where one chair would usually go and wasn’t worried about people pushing past it and waking up a sleeping baby. Which was v convenient!

I have the Nuna Triv next in London and it's amazing. Never folded it on public transport but it steers really well down buses etc

I honestly think my Nuna Triv wheels are a bit small - even for city living. I wish I’d got the Nuna Mixx. Also would you be using the carrycot?

To be honest, I didn’t use the tube all that frequently with a buggy unless we were going out somewhere the two of us. It was buses and I never ended up in a situation where I needed to fold!

Babyzen yoyo. Get the newborn seat not the separate carrycot so it folds in one piece

Joolz aer + is absolutely brilliant. I love mine and wish I bought it earlier. Highly recommended

Just to add as have taken it to London. Folds one handed extremely easily.
I was up and down the tube stairs with the aer on my shoulder, toddler holding my hand and baby in the other arm.
It's really is brilliant.
