Taking cabin approved strollers on board - easyJet

Hi there,
we are flying with easyJet on Friday and are currently trying to work out exactly how much luggage we can take. We’ve got the bugaboo butterfly stroller which is cabin approved but does this count as one of our pieces of hand luggage if we want to put it in the overhead locker?

If anyone has flown easyJet with a cabin approved stroller I’d much appreciate the advice.

bonus points if you’re also able to recommend a cover for the Butterfly in case it does need to go in the hold?!

cheers!

Bump

Yes it will count as the larger paid for overhead luggage.
But just an fyi, I think the bugaboo butterfly is ok on easyJet, but it’s too big for Ryanair hand-luggage. Only the babyzen yo-yo is small enough as it has to be under 20cm wide

Yes you need to pay for a large cabin bag. Otherwise you can put it in The hold for free.

Sometimes you get away with not paying, sometimes not

I hope you get it on board, my cabin approved pram was taken off me at the gate and out underneath! Luckily I had the sling with me for my 8 month old!

Thanks all! First time flying with a baby here as you can tell 😬is it just a case of walking to the stairs of the plane and keeping your fingers crossed whether they ask to put in the hold or they don’t say anything so you can take on board?!

Good idea - I’ll make sure the sling is accessible!

I always fold and put by babyzen yo-yo in the bag if came with at departure before I go through. The bag has arm strap so it looks just like a bag with anything else in tbh.
I have main bag as small rucksack for under seat with baby/ toddler essentials. So can wear rucksack, baby in one arm and pram on other arm if travelling alone ( or offload it to dh)

We took our Yoyo BabyZen onboard for free last year. They asked me at the gate if I wanted it stored underneath in the hold, and I politely declined and told them it was hand luggage size when folded.

It counts as cabin baggage, so you can use 1 from your fare or buy an additional one.

There is a good summary about both EasyJet and Ryanair in this post, including links to their full guidelines and prices.
