Can I put my 4.5mo old in Babyzen Yo-yo?

DD currently in the newborn pack and has never really liked it (neither do I particularly but we’re in London and live up two flights of stairs so lightweight/compact trumped all other factors). She’s a nosey little thing and I think she would prefer to be facing out to see more as there’s no recline option on the newborn pack. Then I think we could use it more.

Has anyone moved them over early? And was it okay. I understand the 6+ option has a fairly good recline and I can add a bar too.

I don’t like the idea of not seeing her but it’s also not always practical to carry her! I had a c section and when I carry her for extended periods it ends up hurting.

She is about 14lbs, can sit with support at the hips and has really good head control but can’t sit unaided yet.

I personally wouldn’t do it. I saw a very young baby, probably about 4 months old in a Babyzen pushchair recently and it made me cringe thinking of his poor spine. He looked so uncomfortable. If you don’t like the newborn pack can you get the sturdier bassinet second hand?

I’d keep with the newborn pack for now and assess again in 2 weeks time.
I found the ´sitting unaided’ criteria very weird. The day I was confident by baby could sit unaided was the day she started cruising. Before that she could crawl but I never confident she wouldn’t fall over from sitting position - it may have been more to do with our very hard tiled floors rather than her actual motor skills.

We avoided the bassinet as it can’t fold down with the frame like the newborn pack - our stairs are SO narrow and I’m often getting baby plus buggy etc up alone (with dd in carrier) so don’t think it would be in any way practical also same issue in that she won’t be able to see out of it! In a dream world we’d have space for a buggy that does a happy medium (parent facing semi reclined) but it just wouldn’t work in our living situation!

In some ways I’d like to be able to sit her in it to just see but that involves changing it over which is such a PITA!! I think I’ll take your 2 weeks advice and err on the side of caution!

I really wouldn’t - I get that it’s annoying. Personally I’d get a different sling/ carrier that you find more comfortable and ditch the pram for a bit.

I totally understand, I was in a similar situation with mine. The pushchair isn’t as cosy as others and the fact it’s only world facing when they’re so young was a bit off putting. I waited until mine was 7 mos to switch over! However, as we’re coming into summer and she won’t need to be as cosy, maybe reassess again in a bit as pp suggested.

I’ve tried quite a few through sling library and the one I have really is the best for me! I had a complicated recover and things still aren’t quite right sadly. But it seems the general consensus is to hold off so I’ll keep persevering with the newborn pack for now!

I had the save staircase and no lift issue and by that ate taking the pushchair and the carrier out was almost always the easiest way. If only because when she cried I could put her in the carrier and any shopping etc in the pram. Shopping bags don’t complain at least.

Same - it’s little more than an expensive trolley most days as she ends up in the carrier 😂

I swapped DS over at 5 months as he was too long for the newborn pack. Kept it in the most reclined position and he was fine. I agree with @Carryonkeepinggoing about ‘sitting unaided’ so didn’t wait to be totally confident about that. Waiting 2 weeks then swapping is probably a good shout.
