Parent facing, lie flat, compact - does it exist!?

We are planning a holiday when our baby will be almost 3 months old and are looking for a compact pushchair that can go in the cabin on the flight.

As the baby will be so young I would like something parent facing and lie flat. At this age would a bassinet attachment be more suitable?

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the yoyo could work, especially with the newborn pack. I have the yoyo but with bassinet which would make it more awkward.

check Facebook marketplace or eBay for a second hand yoyo if that’s the one you want or go to a shop and have a look at all the travel buggies.. see which ones go flat or basically flat. I think at that age they’re out of the tiny newborn stage so it’s not SUCH a worry but I will still have my baby lying flat (or pretty much flat) on holiday, it’s just the car seat instead of a buggy thing that’s really advised against and yet so many people do it, especially now everyone has a Doona. My friend just took her doona abroad and no buggy with a 2 month old and baby slept in that all week but it’s quite well advertised that this isn’t a good idea

I have been looking for the same thing! The cybex eezytwist is the one I have found that fits the bill the best so far but it's not ideal. The advisor in Mamas and papas told me not to bother with the yoyo and said it has had its day. 😬 I told her it was the model I was most keen on as it's the one I see most frequently but she really put me off.

YoYo with the newborn pack is perfect for this. It was/still is our everyday pram so can vouch for its comfiness. I think it’s a good investment because you’ll get likely get more use out of a lighter stroller than a big pram as they get into the toddler years. Second hand frame with a new fabric pack could be a good shout though!

@Obeseandashamed

I have that one why I would change about it is being able to fold handle down and seat being a bit higher to fit more stuff in the basket and help my back. But people have asked me what brand etc as it's so compact. Also I have to push it with one hand as walk with a crutch and it's really light for that.

Uppababy minu v2

What travel system did you buy? Can you buy the lightweight / travel version of the same brand so that at least all your accessories swap over?

I would say lie flat is important at 2-3months, but my DD still will only sleep in the buggy when its fully reclined at 2yrs!! So maybe my experience is biased 🥴

I think this is a load of rubbish. Look at the Stroller Workshop on youtube. Sales advisors will in general parrot whatever has been said to them by the various brand reps - Stroller Workshop are a repair centre, and they swear by the Yoyo and basically say any other microfold is pants for longevity.

I like the idea of the Cybex Eezy s Twist but you can see it's not likely to last very long in reality. However it might be worth it for the OP to have the parent facing function and the near lie flat.

We had the same experience in M&P, desperate to put us off the YoYo despite it being our preference. I think they're encouraged to direct sales elsewhere!

I've just been looking for the same but decided to hire the yoyo with newborn bit for the holiday (£40 for 2 weeks) and then buy something else when they are 6 months plus as I prefer the cheaper bugaboo Butterfly or joolz aer.

JessieLongleg · 24/05/2023 00:57

@BertieBotts cybex easy twist is good for city travel not something you wouldn't take off a park trail without being careful. No way would it be suitable for a country family that does long walks everyday. Love the way you can get it down a bus rather than have to get on the back door.

I would happily use the babyzen yo-yo without the parent facing part if it’s just for a week holiday at 3 months. It’s lies flat enough to nap, you can use car seat on frame also as cheaper option and baby in sling as combo. 3 month olds won’t be in the pram only for hours and hours, you can take a sling, hold in arms, use pram when you need a break, and use car seat when convenient

At home we had full lie flat carrycot on mountain buggy etc. but for travel, I would just go for convenience. FYI we just used babyzen with now 3 year old for 3 weeks travel and he still fits well, it still folds great, and he napped every afternoon in it ( and he doesn’t nap usually)

The YoYo is really good for what it is, not sure why they’d be trying to put you off. Mine has done 2 kids over 6 years and is still going strong except with one replacement handlebar as the old style foam started to get ratty. It’s definitely in it for the long haul.

I like that newborns are strapped in for when you’re on public transport. The pocket on the back of the seat is so handy for phone, keys etc. There’s no doubt that airlines will accept it because they do often ask ‘is it a YoYo’. The shoulder strap was a lifesaver when I lived in a 3rd floor walk up. I couldn’t care less about it not being parent facing from 6 months, neither could either of my kids nor any other child I know (so many YoYos in our part of London!).

Yes the basket isn’t very big and the wheels are useless off road but that’s probably true of any super compact city pram, including by the look of it the Cybex.

Cybex Eezy S Twist

I love ours. Use it all the time, not just on holiday!
