Joie Pact - weird seat angle? Looks v uncomfortable

Just got a Joie Pact 2nd hand for our 18 month old. Tried it out. He looked VERY uncomfortable.

The seat is very short and slopes forward. The backrest slopes a long way back, even when it's as high as it goes. Result: his body is nearly straight, not sat up, and he would slide out of the pushchair entirely if it weren't for the strap between his legs, which must therefore hold a lot of weight in a very uncomfortable way.

I've tried looking at a manual online but the angle of the seat doesn't seem to be adjustable, and I think I do have the backrest at the top. Anyone know this push chair? Am I missing something?

Confession: this is our first pushchair. Because of what it's like where we live, babywearing has been much more convenient up to this point. (Also we just like it). But he's getting bigger and heavier and we had to get one eventually. So maaaaybe I'm just wrong and pushchairs are meant to be at this angle?? But surely toddlers are meant to sit, not lean back in a weird back plank with all their weight on a strap in their groin?

I can't comment on the short slopey seat on the Pact, but I have found that so many of the ultracompacts do have a sloping back, so I don't think it's a case of you missing something. My kid (21 months) also isn't a goer in them and constantly strains to sit up. But people really do love the yo-yo which is too sloped for my kid so I think it's also child dependent. We have the bugaboo Bee 6 as our main pram which is great for being more upright, but it's not that lightweight.

I created a thread not too long ago asking for advice on very upright lightweight strollers and had some umbrella folds recommended - silver cross Pop and Reflex. I've also seen the Cybex Eezy Twist and the joolz aer look more upright (and are compact folds) but I've read the Twist has a very shallow seat, and eitherway I've not found them cheap enough 2nd hand yet.

Thanks! Good to know I'm not just going mad!

We do need the ultracompact fold shape as the plan is to cable tie on a bar with clips for a bike pannier rack. But I'll have a good look at the Cybex Eezy Twist and the joolz aer, great to have those recommendations!
