Can I bring an egg stroller abroad? 4month old baby

Hoping to go abroad in June (if the passport arrives) and I'm wondering about my pram - I have an egg stroller 2 - has anyone here brought that abroad? It's rather bulky and also seems warm?!

Hope I don't need to buy another travel one as this was pricey AF!

I would be mostly concerned about it getting damaged - the baggage handlers can sometimes really throw things around. I’ve had both a car seat and a pram damaged - the pram was just cosmetic (leather on handlebar was ripped) but the car seat was badly cracked. This was despite them being wrapped and covered.

You would be able to but agree with poster above.

Also the Egg is pretty huge (we had one), not all countries/places have pram friendly pavements as standard, it may be better to borrow a smaller pram buggy for hols.

We had a gifted bugaboo bee for holidays and even struggled with that in some places/countries.

You can but yeah it’ll get battered or lost.

id buy a cheap second hand lie flat compatible from birth travel stroller from fb.

or if funds allow we got a chicco travel stroller from pramworld about £120 that’s lie flat and suitable from birth, and folds so small it can go in overhead lockers/behind seat in the car. We used it as our main stroller at about 18m rather than the big one (that we’d spent £1000 on 😠)as it was just so handy

I wouldn't bother taking something so expensive abroad as it gets thrown about and a lot of countries don't have smooth and wide pavements like the uk so it becomes a pain to navigate or have wide doors etc. we got a yo-yo for this reason as it can go on the plane and it's so small it barely takes up any room although it was a struggle in Lisbon with cobbles!

I brought mine to Dubai last year. It was fine. The mosquito net was handy. Did subsequently buy a yo-yo for the next holiday as it is soooo much more convenient to be able to bring it on board and then have it as soon as you get off the flight

Nope we always take our cheaper basic prams, buggies abroad and not our best

Totalwasteofpaper · 24/04/2023 07:03

Your options are:

  • Buy a cheap 2nd hand one.
  • take your chances with careless baggage handlers and your 1k pram.
  • Suck it up and get a yoyo or similar.

Fyi You will likely hate the egg by 6/7m as travel prams are much lighter/easier esp as baby gets heavier. We went for option 3 as also took dd away at 11m.

I recently flew and saw lots of people with fancy prams that were put into the hold, tbh most of them looked fine. Alternatively you could get something like the Stokke Pram-pack, some brands do their own for their buggies.

Thanks everyone some good points here!
