Mountain Buggy Duet V3 or Out n About Nipper Double V4?

I am expecting baby no.2 and will have a 19mo by then. Was initially not going to buy a double buggy but it seems the only sensible option as I don’t want to put newborn in a sling all the time and DC1 is a bit too young for a buggy board/walking.

I want a side by side double that has a carrycot option, but is also relatively narrow and will be able to fit through my front door. The options I’ve settled on (unless anybody here can suggest something else!) are the Mountain Buggy Duet V3 or the Out n About Nipper V4.

As far as I can see, pros of the MBD are that it is narrow and has option to turn carrycot into parent facing seat. Cons I can see are that it is heavier than the Nipper and it doesn’t seem as robust - many second hand models seem to have ripped foam on the handlebars, faded fabric, and generally look very tatty. (Though I appreciate this is just second hand prams in general! The MB just seems to look worse!)

The pros of the Nipper are that it is comfortable, the carrycot seems more robust (but doesn’t convert like the mountain buggy) and it is cheaper! Cons are that the storage seems quite small and it might be more of a squeeze to get through doorways.

anybody here with experience using either? I never spent so much money on a pram for the first one (just got a cheaper joie pram) but I have very specific requirements this time that only these two buggies seem to fulfil!

thanks in advance :)

I'm in the exact same boat! Going to a shop to look at them in person.

Mountain Buggy has a cocoon too but it's not as sturdy as the carrycot.

I think it looks far better than the Out and About and like the children are more upright in them but that could just be illusion from pictures so I'll see in person.

Also contemplating not getting a carrycot but using a comfy insert instead.

I'm also in the same boat and am thinking I'm going to have to test both. I have a 19month age gap, mine are now 5month and 2 so won't need to carry cot.
I originally brought a second hand tandem (icandy orange) and regret it so much. I'm going to resell and really want to make the right decision with my next purchase!

I have a couple of friends with the put n about double, they swear by it. I am expecting my second in a couple of months and have just picked one up second hand

I have been looking at doubles recently and you might also want to consider the Baby Jogger
City Tour 2 double. It is the Which best buy double. I like the look of it as it is light and folds nicely, but I am a bit put off by its fixed height handle bar and upper weight limit per seat of only 15kg (our toddler is quite tall). It is also very much an urban pram, but I mind that less as I think we would use our regular buggy and a sling if necessary for non-urban environments.

My friend has a mountain buggy duo and the carry cot is tiny, which has put me off it. She also said that when she tried to convert the carry cot to a forward facing seat it was tiny and pointless. I have also been considering a second hand buggaboo donkey, as I loved having our DC parent facing at the moment, but this is quite a bit wider.

Not much help, we are having a similar dilemma though!

I forgot to say though. My friend with the Mountain Buggy Duo still loves it and she doesn't mind about the tiny carry cots and seats, she loves it being so narrow. My 1st DC is quite bit and I think it might bother me though.

Hello. I know this post is a few years old but I’m now having this same decision. My first will be two when my newborn arrives . I love to walk in the countryside and want something able to handle that. Did you guys make any decisions? Thanks
