Recommendations for best 'all terrain'/compact pushchair?

I already have a Silver Cross Wayfarer which is great for town use and 'light' country walks on dry purpose built tracks, but I really struggle with mud, bumps and anything even looking slightly like "cross country", so I'm looking for a second pushchair that can handle that.

I'd like something that can handle my 'country walk' requirements while also being light and compact if possible, so that we can take it camping (etc).

Friends have recommended the Hauck Runner 2 which we're considering, but we only have their experience to go on and it's not a small amount of money to shell out for something that we can only purchase online (therefore tricky to return if we don't like it).

I'm just wondering whether people can recommend some other decent options for us to shortlist?

Budget is ideally around the £200 mark or less... (happy to buy new or to buy secondhand and/or on FB marketplace if models are sufficiently popular to be listed).

Thanks!

‘All terrain’ and ‘Light and Compact’ generally don’t go together. By default, pushchairs that can handle difficult terrain need big wheels +/-suspension. I’m not sure you are going to find a pushchair that folds like a 7kg stroller but pushes like an all terrain-er.

I think the Hauck you mention is a pretty good buggy especially for the price. My SIL has it for visiting MIL and her husbands running. But it’s still pretty bulky even when folded down. I think she takes the wheels off to get it into the car.

A friend has an Out and About Nipper which is decent for rough terrain and folds down relatively compactly. You’d probably be able to pick and older one of them up second hand for £200.

Thanks, you make some good points (I'm probably wishing for the impossible)!

The out and about nipper is one that I had considered (albeit secondhand), so it's good to hear that seems to be a decent choice... also glad the Hauck seems decent enough too.

I'd say I'm more willing to compromise on how compact the pushchair is, as the ability to handle rough(ish) terrain is more important long term!

The nipper or a CityMini GT. You can lock the front wheel and ours took everything we could throw at it. One handed fold as well and pretty compact.

I have the Out n About Nipper - love it and very reasonably priced imo

Can recommend the baby jogger city gt mini. I brought mine second hand. I like how it folds especially now that my 2.5yr rarely uses it. Very light

Lots of Out & About Nipper recommendations - I think I've been swayed in that direction after reading the feedback here and on review websites...

I've found a Nipper on FB Marketplace for what seems a reasonable price and have messaged the seller, fingers crossed it works out!

Baby jogger mini gt. Love baby joggers (we have 2, had another before) & everyone that has used ours had then bought one 😂

We do lots of dog walking /rough terrain & I have a summit x3 for that, but a city mini gt would cope easily with what you want & the easiest fold in the world

Thought I'd update! We bit the bullet and went for the Out and About Nipper on FB marketplace... it's light, you can steer easily with one hand, it handles beautifully on rough ground and it packs away in the car much better than our Silver Cross Wayfarer (which I should add is much loved and will be kept for town use). So I'm very pleased with our purchase!

My only big criticism about the Nipper is that the handlebar is quite narrow, I have to turn my arms in to push rather than keeping them at a natural angle... but I think we'll probably get used to it! DH (larger than me) is completely unbothered, so I'm probably being fussy in that respect...
And a small criticism is the small storage tray underneath, but that's not a huge concern if you're only using it for country walks (potentially a drawback for picnics or beach days, but I suppose that's where back packs come in handy)!

Yes, love our Nipper! Great pram.

I’m looking to buy a light weight buggy for my grandson under £200.. I want it to take weight up to 22kg+ as my granddaughter age 3yr gets tired on a log walk and I can’t carry her. I’m looking at Hauck Travel N Care Plus and Baby Jogger. City Tour 2 Hauck Travel N Care Plus.
Any advice would be great please.
