Please help! Can't choose a pram!

Hi there, desperately looking for recommendations as I have spent hours looking at prams but still haven't found one that works. We have a small car (Toyota Yaris) and a dog so we have limited space before we introduce all the baby's things. We've also just installed the car seat in the back which means we can no longer use the front passenger seat lol. We need a lightweight, compact pram that we can take for country walks, and that can fit easily into the car. We frequently take big trips to the Lakes and the Pennines, with the dog in tow, to visit dp's family, so have very limited space already. The issue we have with the compact lightweight ones is that the wheels don't look sturdy enough for where we go walking, and I worry that lo will out grow them quickly. I think we are almost definitely overthinking things, but would really appreciate any recommendations! Should also mention we would like to spend under £600 max.

mountain buggy or out and about nipper?

Can’t recommend a specific pram but have you thought about using a baby carrier for your walks and stuff while the baby is small. You could then go into more of a buggy from about 6 months which are lighter and don’t take up as much room

Don’t go with a buggerboo I’m looking for a new one as my old one was a nightmare.

mamas and papas ocarro or flip xt are really good. sturdy wheels and fold up well, plus lie flat so no need for a basinet. we've fitted the larger ocarro in the boot of our fiesta.

Baby jogger City Mini GT. Had ours 5 years through 3 children, countless dog walks and it’s still going strong. You can fold it with one hand and the massive rain hood means you rarely need a rain cover, can use from newborn through to preschool. You can get a bassinet to add to it if you want but it lies flat so we never did.

Graco fast action fold ones are a good size and very sturdy
Easy to push around
If you have not already got one

Agree with baby jogger recommendation. One handed fold, almost flat. Wheels easily click off if space is very tight. I have the city mini GT (small air wheels) and a city elite (big proper wheels). Love them both

Cosatto do several compact pushchairs/strollers. They aren't parent facing but I'd agree with using a sling or carrier for walking. Even the best all terrain pram won't be able to go everywhere.

I've got the Cosatto whoosh for dd2, we got it when she was around 7 months I think and she's 2 now. I bloody love it. Compact fold, its very light and extremely sturdy considering how small it looks folded. Dd seems to like it and they do some brilliant patterns. The basket is still a decent size too.

I think one of their strollers, you can buy a parent facing bassinet, but I think it's the whoosh XL which is slightly bigger (although still compact).

I think mine cost about £175 (possibly in a sale) and I then bought the matching footmuff but they do klarna so I paid for it in 3 instalments which was handy.

Florencenotflo · 15/08/2021 19:44

Oh and it's like flat too.

Florencenotflo · 15/08/2021 19:44

Ffs... lie flat not like flat!!

bloodywhitecat · 15/08/2021 19:45

Out n About, fantastic suspension for the passenger and very lightweight, the back wheels pop off easily to make getting it in the boot easier.

Sxxyfing · 15/08/2021 19:45

We have an oyster and it's been great. When my baby was born i had a very sporty BMW Convertible so the boot space was tiny and it fitted in there with the carrycot just !!!

We're on our third child with a baby jogger city mini. It's compact but with sturdy wheels, would very much recommend x

OhWifey · 15/08/2021 20:02

Baby Jogger city mini gt folds flat and wheels easily pop off.
But a really good sling like a Tula or Ergo would be even smaller!

mayblossominapril · 15/08/2021 20:08

A silver cross pop or city mini both are from birth and pretty good off road, the pop is slightly better.
If you can I would get a bigger car it makes life much easier
