Newborn + toddler double that allows baby to be parent facing

I’m finding it a bit overwhelming, can anyone help me figure out my options?

The icandy orange double looks like it would do the job, there’s a bassinet option as well (though it looks like it sits a bit low when it’s parent facing).

It’s a bit of a stretch for our budget as well.

Does anyone know it’s possible to have phil&teds inline with a small baby parent facing?

What age gap will you have?

I have the orange although baby isn't here yet so i can't comment on using as a double

As for phil and teds i looked at the voyager which has several seating positions

MikeSully · 06/04/2021 14:12

I had the bugaboo. Bought it 2nd hand.

Redheadedscarecrow · 06/04/2021 14:26

I had the Orange for my newborn and 2 year old and it was parent facing for both kids, although when the baby needs a chair rather than bassinet you have to buy another seat separately, as its sold with one lay flat bassinet and chair. It did the job for me though.

@Redheadedscarecrow can i ask which configuration you found best for seat and carrycot

HiScore · 06/04/2021 15:00

Uppababy vista. I have a 23 month age gap and it’s been perfect.

You can have a bassinet and toddler seat at once and then when baby is big enough for seat then you can have two separate seats either forward or rear facing. I’ll try to attach a picture

Although the chair at the top is slightly bigger I put the baby in there so I can talk to them, the toddler goes in the other as they only really go in when they are tired or if we are on a long walk.

I had the baby right at the front on the bottom facing me and the toddler on top on the clips nearest me also facing me. Almost like bunk beds but slightly offset iyswim? That's because I had a c section and it was easier to get big toddler in as she was able to climb using the buggy step with some help.

I had the bugaboo donkey duo for mine (14 month age ago) could face either seat any way and had a bassinet for baby and could attach car seat to it if wanted . It was great

Another advantage of the Orange is the built in buggy bar now my 2 are older, so DD1 doesn't need a seat, but can't (won't) walk long distances.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/04/2021 09:16

We are having 22m gap

Plan with the orange is both in pram using carrycot and seat unit (hopefully) until baby is 6m

After that i have a compatable carseat for baby which i will use if need to put toddler in pram as raining / tired / in a bad mood etc

Hopefully wont have to buy another seat fabric

Wateruniform · 07/04/2021 10:16

Uppababy vista all the way!! Then when they get bigger there are so many different configurations you can do.

Thank you for the help! We will have a 2 year and 2 month gap. I walk everywhere though, miles and miles every day, so I don’t feel like we could try and rely on a buggyboard.

@SparrowNest, i don't drive so i knew i couldn't make do with just a buggy board. I just about managed when i did that with a nearly 3 year gap! Not even attempting it this time!

DD has gone pretty far on the buggy board (a good hour) (I don't drive either). It's pretty durable. At 3.5 she feels too old for a buggy seat so the buggy bar has been a god-send.

I had a similar gap and I managed with just my normal buggy and put the baby in the sling. I only started putting the baby in the buggy from 6months but it helped my older child build up stamina for longer distances & used to swap them around. By the time the baby was a year old, DD was now 3 and can actually walk for a couple of hours no problem.

Know it might not work for everyone. She recently started nursery school which is a 20 minute walk away. Some kids that are older and who live closer come in a buggy and one of the mums has said to me she can't get her DD to walk any distance at all and even tires on a scooter.

Just thought I'd give you the option of a sling if you hadn't thought of it. A double buggy wasn't an option for us with space or cash

Has to be the Bugaboo Donkey - I got a refurbished one from Pramsy. Worth checking out

I have a 2 year 2 month age gap between mine. We had the egg pushchair as a tandem (already had the egg as was the pushchair we purchased for our first born). It worked really well for us, although the newborn can't parent face in the carrycot I never found it an issue as I could still see him absolutely fine. When he moved into the pushchair seat I had him parent facing (not technically supposed to but never caused an issue). We now have the Phil and Ted's dot as DD is older now but still needs a pushchair if we are out for a long time as I do not drive. I've not used it for newborn but I'll have a play around with it later to see what the seating options are.

My sister has just purchased the mountain buggy duet with carrycot plus. That can parent face up to 9kg I believe. She will have a 14 month age gap between her two.
