Lie flat or carrycot?

What are your thoughts on lie flat pushchairs for 0-6 months instead of a separate carrycot or bassinet?
I'm looking at the Nuna Triv as it folds down small enough to fit in my tiny boot. It is advertised as "lie flat" and "suitable from birth" so it says you can use it immediately and without a carrycot but how would that be in practice?

I'm not really concerned about price but mostly space as I live in a flat. Not needing a 6+months chair hanging about while I use the pram with the carrycot would be a massive help and also the pram being more bulky with the carrycot while indoors.
Also the carrycot would be more difficult to fit in the boot.

The pushchair can be parent facing which is nice, do you feel a small baby would be secure in it? Is there anything to make it more secure while baby is smaller?

Bump! I am wondering about this too... Although looking at it, it doesn't seem to offer as much protection as a traditional carry cot? I'm due in June so might not be an issue (although I do live in Scotland!).

Hoping someone knowledgeable comes along soon, pram shopping is a nightmare!

Sounds like a lie flat is the best option for you. I had a carry cot for dc1 but for dc2 because it was a double she was In a lie flat one.

  • the bugaboo cocoon is great and fits in pretty much any lie flat pushchair and is so warm and snuggly.

  • the only main benefit of the carry cot is it's easier to get the baby in if they are asleep and no messing around with strap. Also you can store lots of stuff at the bottom of the carry cot (the Cameleon one is really long)

  • apart from that there really is no difference, I'm in London and loads of my space deprived friends used a lie flat.
