Double buggy recommendations

Hi,

DC2 is due in April and there will be a 2yr 4mths age gap between them. I currently have a joie mytrax and a silver cross pioneer. Have been trying to decide whether to go for a double buggy and think we will go for it as although DS walks he does get lazy and is mega heavy for me to carry. Have debated about buggy board but unsure if DS would go on this.

Requirements -

  • DS is already 15/16kg so probably something that holds bigger toddler
  • Good for parents with height difference (I'm only 5"0 whereas DP 5"10)
  • Good for all terrain as we live in village so go for a lot of walks and need to drive if we want to go to food shop etc (would be handy if could go around a shopping centre but I understand there's no one buggy for all situations)
  • Suitable from newborn

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as keep going round in circles! Smile

Also forgot to mention max budget £400-500.

Personally I wouldn't buy a double. I'd get a decent sling for the newborn and a buggy board.

Phil and teds. I loved mine and, despite what people try to tell you, the bottom seat is not the worst one! When they’re old enough to fight over it they do!

Mountain Buggy Duet.

Out n about double. Use for carrying stuff when dc 1 walks!

@Trillio

Mountain Buggy Duet.
I’ve just got one of these. I’m due in a couple months and DS will just be 2. I’m hoping it’s as good as everyone says!

Baby jogger city mini double. I used both as a mum and a CM until mine were 3/4 (not all the time!) I had a 17m gap and this time will have 22m so I will but again.

Pros. Slim enough to go through standard doors.
Easy to push
One handed fold
Suitable from newborn and can buy bassinet too.
Fine for dog walks

I also used slings (esp at groups) but very much liked being able to get them both to nap and then having time with no-one on or touching me 😂

Another option is a kidsit buggy board which is brilliant if you have a child who will happily sit and ride on it.

I've also just got a mountain buggy diet. My son is 14 months and I'm due in March- also hope it's as good as everyone says! Was a close call between that and the out n about nipper but the reviews just swayed us towards the mountain buggy.

Bec1710 · 30/12/2020 10:43

Was definitely thinking along the lines of an out n about double, will think about the mountain buggy one too (but find it harder to justify this one due to the higher price and because I already own 2 buggies!).

Did think about the buggy/carrier/buggy board combo but as @Burningbenches says it's nice to have some time where they will both hopefully be in the buggy napping Grin Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far!

Look at second hand. I got the mountain buggy duet as a single in the sale (£299!) and bought the carrycot plus on eBay for £60.

Sophagain · 30/12/2020 10:50

Mountain buggy duet. It’s the most narrow side by side you can buy, fits through a standard door when not fully open all the way (so so the door still takes up some of the doorway rather than being completely out of the way, for example if the door is by a corner - hope that makes sense). The out n about for example cannot do that. The turning circle on it is tiny, you can twist around really narrow shop aisles. It is great on mud and rocky terrain and also you can push it along the beach much more easily than any other conventional pram I’ve seen. We often do walks through the wood and then along the beach with ours.

Does anyone have recommendations if their toddler is quite tall? I have the egg pram at the minute and had planned to convert this to the tandem but my DS is almost too tall for it (head almost touching hood of pram when pulled over if raining or sunny).

Which prams have the biggest seat back heights? I want him to still be able to go in the Pram as too young to reliably sit or stand on buggy board for any length of time I think.

Thanks

P

Is the egg not like the icandy where you can push the hood up in the frame?

Popcorn15 · 13/01/2021 05:39

@JanewaysBun oh I'm not sure. Must have a closer look but I've never noticed any button that would indicate that could be done. Would be fab if I could do this though!!

How is it done on the I candy?

Thanks

Mountain buggy is tiny tiny compared to other doubles. The children hardly have any room in it. Personally I think you can't beat the Bugaboo Donkey and they are the best prams for holding their value

JanewaysBun · 14/01/2021 19:33

On the I candy you press some small buttons on the side of the good frame and it slides up x

JanewaysBun · 14/01/2021 19:33

hood
