Can’t decide which/if any double pram to get...advice welcome

So I’ve got 2 large children. DS1 is 2 years old and 91st percentile. DS2 is 7 months and 98th percentile

Currently we have the silvercross wave but I’m struggling to control it in double mode as it’s just so heavy and can be awkward to steer when like this. But I love the fact it can be used in single mode

DS1 is a runner with no concept of his own mortality so unless I’m with people I’m very uncomfortable taking him out unless in the pram. It’s becoming more of a problem now that there are more things to do and as we approach winter I’m really conscious of not just getting stuck in the house all day everyday and really starting to worry about how I’m going to cope with them both as they get heavier

This isn’t helped by the fact DS1 doesn’t actually want to go in it anymore as he’s squished and can’t really see. He has got reins which he absolutely hates also. He basically wants to be free to run in any direction he wants

I’ve been looking at some of the side by side pushchairs but not sure if we need one. Ideally I’d want it to be fairly slimline as some paths around here only fit a single.

DH is no help as he doesn’t want to spend another £300-500 on a pram which might only last another year but can’t seem to come up with any help or solutions on what the best options are.

So I’ve come to a place where I’ve got a few options:

1 - get a buggy board for the wave and just use in single mode. Hoping that DS1 will stay on it

2 - get a sling for DS2 and have the pram as back up to strap DS1 in if needed. I’ve had a c section though and the muscles still feel tender sometimes (like after hoovering) but this might be the most flexible option while we’re out and about.

3 - bite the bullet and get the double in the knowledge that DS1 will probably only use it for a year and only really if we’re on our own

I keep alternating between them all and keep ending up thinking I need the sling, buggy board and side by side pram all at the same time Grin

Which option would you go for and if it’s a double pram, which one and why?

We have twins and a baby jogger city mini GT. You could get one second hand as you'd only use it for a little while. I love how slim it is - but my 98th centile 5yo can still just about squash into it. However, when taking my 2yo beside one twin, it's hard going because it's a side by side pushchair because one arm works much harder than the other. Have you considered a Caboose?

Personally, I would get a buggy board and sling. You can use the buggy board for the most part, and switch baby into the sling if your DS1 is being particularly challenging or is too tired to stand/behave. That said, I know I have an unusual sway towards babywearing as we never had a pushchair for DC1 or 2 because I was happy carrying them around until they were able to wall everywhere, and DC1 used to be off the centile chart massive Grin so know your limits, I guess!

Option 3 but for sure get one second hand as they're so cheap on FB market place etc.

DS fell off our buggy board and split his lip.

The baby jogger has really good size seats. I've got a duet and my two fit but unsure about a larger child. The out n about looks good I think

I'm impressed you've for as far as you have with the wave as I couldn't even get an empty one up a step when I tired it in the shop!

Oh how about a Phil and Teds sport type thing? Not wide but nice little bottom seat if DC1 needs to be contained!

Second hand mountain buggy urban double? The duet has small seats but the urban jungle is HUGE so could work, you can normally get them on eBay for around £50
