2 year old and newborn - double buggy or?

Hi all

I’m expecting my 2nd in Feb/March 2021. My daughter will be 2yrs old and 3 months by then.

Currently, we have a pushchair (hadnt yet bothered buying a stroller and now we know we’re expecting, not sure if we will bother - only issue is is heavier as she gets heavier and takes up space in the boot when travelling longer distances). She’s 20 months now so we do use it when out, she still enjoys it and actually asks to go in it when she’s had enough of walking/running. I wonder if she will want to do the same when older. She also sometimes takes her nap in it. But by 2 (sorry for the silly question) are naptimes even a thing?

I have a lot of time to think about it but starting early as I’m not sure what we will do when the baby is here. Even at 2 I know little ones still get tired when out, so am considering getting a double buggy. But I’m not entirely sure it’s necessary?

Do I just use my current pushchair for the new born and get a buggy ride on? I could use my carrier for a while - but I had a c sec last time and so my other half did most of the carrying until I was comfortable.

Any advice/tips?

I had a second hand double "out n about" Nipper which was brilliant and a buggy board for my pram. 23 month gap so v similar.

18 month gap but eldest is now almost 2 and a half.

Double buggy all the way. Just so much easier when you want them both contained so you can walk somewhere

I got a second hand uppa baby vista when I had my second. I have bang on two years between mine. My eldest wasn't good on the buggy board until about 2 and a half so a double buggy was a must

Ooh thank you. Will look into this. I like the look of the side by side ones but don’t know how people get it through doorways?!

We're expecting baby 2 in Nov and my son will be 2yrs 4 months. Just bought a second hand mountain buggy duet as we live in an Edwardian semi and it's the only one that will fit through our doorways. It's a side by side. For reference my son is still napping for 2hrs a day and although he's a good walker he still gets to the point where he wants a ride for a bit (and I can't carry him!). I just wanted to be able to contain him and get somewhere quickly if needed!

I'm expecting in Feb and ds will be 2 years 4 months. We are not getting a double because of the expense for a short period of time. We will be using a buggy board. However, we live in the center of town and don't walk far so ds should be alright to keep up. He will also be in nursery 3 days a week so will be just the baby mostly and if not then dh will be there to help with ds. It's very dependent on circumstance

I had DD2 when DD1 was just 16 months old! I never bothered getting a double buggy - DD2 had toddler reins and walked beside the pram. She soon developed sturdy wee legs. Mind you, DD2 was born in December, so we weren’t wanting to go on long country hikes or anything - just to local shops or the supermarket, and we had a car for long distances. By the time the warmer weather came, DD1 was about 20 months, and well up for walks. In fact she was like greased lightning and could vanish across a field in seconds if let loose!
It obv depends on individual circumstances, but unless you plan to do a lot of long walks, it’s easy to manage without a double buggy.
