Uppababy Vista v Uppababy Cruz

Hello!

I'm 28 weeks' pregnant and realising the odds of getting to a shop to actually look at a pushchair are quickly diminishing so ramping up online research. I keep coming across Uppababy as a brand which might suit our needs but wondered if anyone has either the Vista or the Cruz (or saw both in person before deciding on one) who can detail any pros/cons?

  • I live in the suburbs and expect I'll mainly be using the pushchair on suburban walks - pavements, cafes, shops, parks (primarily with paths) but with some more bumpy routes in parks
  • We have a golf - I'm not a v confident driver so will probably use public transport more than not, but with husband we would drive and need to fit in boot etc
- We are likely getting a maxi-cosi car seat with isofix base - Also looking at getting a sling we could then use for more 'off-road' routes and skip pushchair if baby was happy in one - Planning to have more children, and potentially with not a huge age gap, but has taken us a long time to get to this point of pregnancy so no guarantees with when that might happen
  • We have decent storage inside our home for pushchair without it being folded up if needs be
  • I'm 5ft6, husband around 6ft

Any advice v welcome on Vista/Cruz, or any other pushchairs I should consider alternatively.

Hi @hopefulin2020
I was torn between vista and Cruz too. They both seem great but I ended up going with vista because it was more suitable for country/park walks - the wheels on the vista are much bigger and didnt have caps over them where mud could get stuck unlike the Cruz. This was the deciding factor for me, but I think the 2020 Cruz may have changed the wheels so I would check that.

I personally found the vista to be surprisingly lightweight and manouvrable and it fits in the boot of my small car. It also had the highest placed bassinet of all the prams I tested which was quite important to me ( didnt want to be bending down a lot over the baby). It also has a huge storage basket and just seemed the easiest to use out of all the prams I tried.

It is wide though and I dont think it would be ideal for lots of public transport use. I think the Cruz has many of the good points of the vista that I've listed but just a bit more compact, so in your case the Cruz might be a better option?

I agree, we also have the Vista and love it. It just fits in my boot though and I have got a Ford Focus. We found it so easy to put up, lovely large basket underneath and it has adapted from birth to our now 15 month old really well.

We live in town but take it out to parks and the countryside and it has coped with all.

We have the old version but a friend has a newer version and also loves it especially as they now come with a cup holder Grin

Thanks both v much! The new Cruz does look a bit like a hybrid between the old Vista and Cruz, as it has better suspension/bigger wheels but still a bit smaller in dimension/weight.

Did either of you think about the option to convert into a double when purchasing? Is that something you'd use if you needed to? - Wondering if the Vista becomes a bit unwieldy with two anyway, so perhaps not the thing to focus on for now as that's very much an unknown in terms of if/when we might be able to have more children.

We know it does convert and are happy to try it out when the time comes. Although DD is likely to be walking by the time we think about another so we looked at buggy boards that attach which look fun for kids.

I bought the vista in 2016. Loved it, used it until DS turned 3.

I'm pregnant abd haven't considered changing for new baby so it must be good.

I got the vista for the double option but obviously won't use that with the age gap we ended up with!

I am looking out for the stand for the carry fit this time though to have somewhere to put baby!

We have the Cruz and love it, although I’m sure we would have been happy with a vista too. The Cruz is narrower and has smaller wheels so fit easy in our boot and through shop doorways. My friend who has a vista had to take her wheels off to get it in the car. The Cruz can manage bumpy tracks as we have taken it on country walks however I reckon the vista probably handles better for this. The Cruz can’t be a double buggy so might not be what you are looking for if you want children close together in age. Our first will be almost two and a half when the second arrives so going to get a buggy board for him.
I love how easy the uppababy are going up and down. also lots of storage space underneath comes in handy.

We didn't get the vista for the ability to convert as dont know if we will have a second. But saw it as a bonus as obviously will be helpful if we do have another child! I've heard it can be a bit unwieldy with two but one of my friends used and said it was fine - guess it just makes it a fair bit heavier!

I’ve heard good things about the vista. My friend got one off of a website called Pramsy. I tried it out and thought it was really good. I haven’t got a pram yet but I’m definitely buying second hand, I just can’t justify spending thousands! I found this website which seems good and my friend got a Bugaboo Donkey off there recently www.pramsy.com

I nearly bought a Vista when I found out I was pregnant again and I was looking at a 17 month gap.

A poster on here really put me off it in the tandem by saying she could barely see over the top of it, couldn’t see the front properly and it had the turning circle of a tank.

It was a pity as it was a beautiful pram to push and was amazing as a single.

Honestly I’d prepare for the baby you’re expecting now, and deal with a potential need for a double further down the line. Doubles are all shite anyway (speaks from terrible experience)
