All-in-one Travel System for cross-country walks. Please help!

Hi.
I am desperate for help and have spent hours going around in circles trying to research suitable all-in-one systems.
Can anyone recommend suitable all-in-one travel systems that I can use from birth? I need something that can manage long cross-country and beach walking over various terrains and preferably be pushed one-handed as I need to walk our dog at the same time.
I’ve looked at various websites and reviews and am finding it so confusing because I find something that sounds ideal and then realise you have to buy the car seat/carry cot/base for car seat separately.
I want something that doesn’t require me buying extra parts which are essential. I am also shielding due to health conditions so even if Lockdown gets eased soon, I won’t be able to leave the house - limiting me to online buying and not being able to try before I buy!
Please note - I know many of you will tell me to get a sling/harness instead for carrying baby while walking dog but due to slight cerebral palsy I have issues with my balance and would definitely not risk the dog pulling me over while carrying baby!

Do you really need it to be a travel system? I have never used that attachment on mine.

Look at the out n about range for all terrain. It depends how all terrain you mean as well. Beaches are tricky with anything tbh!

Emma9876 · 06/05/2020 18:16

Not a travel system but the out n about nipper is fantastic! We've used it for various terrains and easy to push with one hand. It can be used from birth but don't think it has a carry cot that can be used x

Agree, never used the travel system bit on mine. Try mountain buggy for off road.

Take a look at the venice child kangaroo at online4baby. It includes everything except carseat. Great for all terrain as you can switch to 2 wheel mode really quickly- useful for beach or snow! They're switching UK distributor at the moment which is why stock is so cheap now (usually retails 699) but the quality is fantastic. Mine is 3 years strong and getting ready for number 2. It's got a 5 year warranty and customer service is great. My shopping basket tore and they shipped me a new one no charge.

Thanks for your messages so far!! To be honest, I don’t know!! Do I need a travel system? It’s my first baby and I’m clueless!
I assumed a travel system would be a lot easier than trying to successfully match different parts from different brands...bearing in mind that I won’t be able to view the Prams/systems in store.
Does a travel system not make things easier than trying to find separate compatible car seats, bases, carry cots? Any recommendations and experiences would be greatly appreciated.
I was however hoping to get something with removable car seat/carry cot, so that if baby has fallen asleep, I wouldn’t have to wake him/her up to remove them. (I know they can only stay in car seat for a maximum of 2 hrs)

Thanks for recommendations so far - am going to check them out now.

X

Honestly? I'd buy a really good all terrain pushchair, and a really good carseat. I wouldn't bother about them being comparable. The length of time that baby is small enough to make lifting baby plus carseat out of the car is so small, I dontvthink travel systems are worth it - especially given the short amount of time small babies should spend in a car seat.

Cesca2 · 06/05/2020 18:49

Thanks KittenVsBox. Very useful advice and something I’d not realised!

On that basis, does anyone have recommendations for car seats too, please? 😂

I would really recommend the Joie 360 car seat. Being able to spin it makes getting them in and out so much easier, especially as they get older. It goes up to 18kg/4 years old and can rear face for the entire time if you wish.

I have a Jane trider and an out n about nipper sport.

I loved my trider but it’s HEAVY. We got it specifically as it was off road and the car seat goes down to 180o flat and doubles as the bassinet (so one less piece of kit). It’s meant to do up to 15m but my son was getting g to broad for it by 9m.

My out and about is super light and nimble but great for forest dog walks, sturdy It comes with a newborn insert if you let the canvas all the way out of the back to lie it flat, although no buggy is recommended for running until 6m. I believe the out and about nipper is compatible with some maxi Cosy travel seats

And YY to the joie 360 spin ... that’s the car seat we got when DS outgrew the Jane, the swivel function is a back saver. It’s suitable from birth too if you use the inserts

We have just ordered the Jane Crosswalk R travel system, not many reviews about but I noticed it online because of the wheels, they looked great for off road terrain, watched a few videos and thought the suspension was great on the frame. We live on a farm and I suffer with a bad back so dont want to use a carrier all the time and like you I was going round in circles trying to find something that was nice looking but would be suitable for our area/lifestyle! It should arrive I a few days so can give more info then but maybe worth looking at in the meantime?!

chelsea2704 · 17/05/2020 09:03

Also Jàne is a Spanish brand and very popular there which makes me assume it's great for beaches🙈🤷‍♀️

Danar89 · 17/05/2020 09:07

We recently bought the Occaro from mamas and papas as needed something for all terrain and so far so good. We bought a separate car seat which has adapters so if baby is asleep it fits on the pram too.

HildaSnibbs · 17/05/2020 09:12

I've recently bought the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle pushchair with the carrycot plus (carrycot plus comes separately, you just check it's the one compatible with the Urban Jungle buggy) from natural baby shower. I wanted an off road one that had a parent facing toddler seat and this was I think the only one I found. It's for DC 3 due any day now so I haven't put a it to the test yet but the wheels are chunky and it looks very robust. You can get car seat connectors for it to fit various car seats I think, have a look on the Mountain Buggy website.

Blondiecub0109 · 17/05/2020 11:04

@chelsea2704 when I was looking at Jane’s my mum tailgated someone on the prom in Alicante when she was on holiday because she saw it was the one I was looking at Grin
Also a barista in Starbucks Tod me that they are very popular in Czech Republic but she never sees them in the UK

NotMeekNotObedient · 05/01/2021 12:44

I'm also thinking about getting the Jane Crosswalk, Matrix bundle. But the weight puts me off, I'll need to get it in and out of the car a lot.

@HildaSnibbs how did you get on with the pram in the end? This is too of our list but lockdown means we’ll be buying without trying at all, would love to know your pros and cons. Our main worries are: -fold down size - we have a be golf and live in a 2 bed flat so not loads of space. -does it handle well in town situations? We’re not big on shops but just in case I wanna pop out for a coffee (one day...)
  • is the bassinet good? Appreciate that gets a short about of use before they outgrow it

:)
