Good everyday buggy for tall infant

Hi,
I'm looking for a good sturdy buggy for my 12 month old to last preferably till age 5. She has long legs so something not to close to the ground. Also one that isn't supper heavy and can fold nicely as we travel a fair bit. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much for your help in advance :-)

We have an Armadillo Flip which my 4 year old can still sit in comfortably. Had it since he was about 18 months old and the seat is huge with generous straps - not that he still uses it but he would fit in no problem (he’s 107cm tall so in the middle of the 4-5 height range).

It’s a fairly compact fold, I think it’s freestanding when folded but could be wrong, and it fits in our tiny porch. It’s heavier than I’d like but under 10kg so not that heavy - we had an iCandy Raspberry before and it’s certainly heavier than that and a Maclaren but it’s solid enough. Would recommend it.

If we were buying again, I’d be looking at the Uppababy Cruz as it has a more generous basket.

Baby jogger city mini. The old style with solid handle is very tall, the GT is less tall but if the hood is slightly opened its fine.

Thanks for posting, we haven't bought one yet but having one that's light enough is a must as we travel quite regularly and also I've a bad back. :-)

My DD is 3 and hasn't been in a buggy for probably 18 months on a day to day basis but we did get one recently for her to use on holiday. She is extremely tall for her age and the only one that came close to being big enough really was the Maclaren Techno XLR. It's not a compact lightweight stroller but that's the trade off if you want it to suit a bigger child unfortunately IME. It was fine for us on holiday but as I say we don't use it day to day so I don't have experience of getting it constantly in and out of cars, on public transport, carrying it round, loading it up with shopping bags etc.

Placemarking. I have a really tall two year old and am struggling with this issue to.

We have a joie litrax 4 which is fab for our tall and heavy two year old. Can’t say it’ll last til 4/5 but she refuses to go in it most of the time so can’t see that really being an issue!

I did loads of research into this and got the Babyjogger city lite. Really happy with my choice two years on- for my off-the-centile-chart tall ds for the school run till he started school himself. Loads of head and leg room & a lovely smooth glide. Also got a handy tray for breakfast on the go!

Also very light and folds easily but you don’t sacrifice sturdy wheels like with a maclaren which in my experience isn’t good for everyday pounding- try it out in a shop. Honestly I’m not being paid commission, I just know how annoying this issue can be!

5 is quite old for a buggy. I have a 3.5 year old and I can’t imagine putting her in a buggy! She is 3 stone and I’m not sure if any buggy would take her weight. Is there a particular reason you think you will need a buggy for that age.

EmilieQ · 21/11/2019 18:49

Agree with the age five being on the old side. Really until she grows out of her naps, age 3 or 4 depending very much on her. I have just bought the silver cross reflex buggy. So far I really like it and so does she. Weight wise it is a little on the heavy side but considering I won't be lifting it too much that aspect doesn't bother me. :-)

Another vote for baby higher city mini. Both mine are very tall and it was still fine for occasional use (airports etc) when they were over 4 - in fact when DS1 was 5 we packed him into it in an airport when he was spark out and DS2 was in a sling.

Sorry didn’t read properly and realise you’d already bought one!
