Joie Tourist Stroller

Just wondering if anyone has the Joie Tourist Stroller? Looking for some advice in terms of newborn compatibility.

I had a nursery appointment at John Lewis today. Went in with my heart set on the Babyzen Yo-yo and when looking online, really didn't like the Joie Tourist. However when seeing it in store, I loved it! And while I'm not considering buying it based on price, there is a big difference!
Joie claim that the Tourist can be used from newborn as it lies flat. However they then say and recommend the use of carrycot for newborn. When talking to the advisers about this, they were a bit vague and I got the impression that they were saying to buy the carrycot to make more of a sale (they already seemed unimpressed that I was favouring the cheaper option over the yo-yo).

If you use the Joie Tourist, what would your advice be on this? What age have you used it without the carrycot from? Would you say to use it with the carrycot? Or could I just use it with the car seat fitted (obviously not for long periods of time)?

I'm a first time mum so feel I may be being a bit daft with all these questions, but from what I can tell it's quite a new pushchair to the market so there's not tons of info out there for it.

I don't have any experience of this specific pushchair, but if the seat is suitable from birth then you don't need the carrycot. I'd of thought that the seat reclined would be better than car seat as seat will be flatter. I think you're right, probably just trying to make an extra sale so they recommend the extras. If the seat is suitable from birth, I'd happily use it from birth!
My pushchair is lie-flat too actually, it came with a newborn liner (purchased secondhand) that goes on top with the seat, but isn't really needed as it doesn't make it any flatter or anything.

Anyone know where I can buy a Joie Tourist Stroller?

Hi @Clarabut it's a John Lewis exclusive.

Hi @lau2108, did you buy the Joie Tourist? Your question mirrored my exact experience in JL just last week!

I love small, light, slim pushchairs and it looks amazing. Sadly this wasn't out a few years back when I was looking. John Lewis were also a bit sniffy with me when I told them I wasn't going for an expensive Bugaboo or iCandy proper pram.
I went for a stroller that converts to parent-facing with a newborn cocoon and I do find that option great from 0-6months, so I probably would buy a carrycot attachment if it's not too expensive. Another option if seat is suitable from birth is to use pushchair and have a decent sling if you want to have baby closer.
Might check this pushchair out next time I'm in John Lewis.

Hi @LadyBun I did buy the Joie Tourist, not sure if it was the pregnancy hormones getting the better of me but I found myself so annoyed at the attitude of the ladies working in JL that I didn't buy it in store and ordered online instead!
It is a good little stroller for us. Fits perfectly in the boot of my Citroen C1 (even leaves space for a couple of small shopping bags!) And works well for our usage. We don't really do country style walks over rougher terrain, the wheels wouldn't be great for that but works for going along the streets in town etc.
I didn't buy the carry cot add on in the end, mainly due to space in the car. I used to just clip on the car seat. Obviously this isn't great for long periods but I found when my little one was that young, he didn't stay in it long enough for it to matter anyway. In fact I found myself buying a sling because he could be so clingy at times. I put him in the stroller itself from around 3 months, before that he was so small that he looked lost in it! But it would have worked fine if I had put him in it. I find the straps really easy to adjust.
A couple of things do bug me but I think it's more personal preference. The handle bar irritates me at times, I find the 3 different settings aren't quite right for me, I could do with an in between setting. The hood is a bit small, but then it is a small stroller. I guess summer time will be when I will really be able to judge it when he needs the shade. When he was a bit younger, I wasn't so keen on it being forward facing, but now he's a very inquisitive 5 month old forward facing is great.
If you're looking for a smaller buggy that doesn't break the bank, then I recommend this. If I'm honest, when we upgrade to a bigger car, I am considering changing to a bigger buggy but would still keep this for times when we need a smaller stroller type.
Hope this helps Smile
