Help with small pram choices

I'm looking for some recommendations! I feel like I've looked at every pram in the world this past 2 weeks.

Must haves:

Under 60cm wide (the main problem)
lightweight (ideally under 10kg)
Easy fold

Nice to haves:
High up seat
Off road wheels
Free standing fold
One handed fold
Something that I won't want to replace after 1.5 years for a simple buggy, if I'm spending a lot on it

So far I've found the uppababy cruz, and the babystyle oyster3. The oyster is slightly too heavy. The fold on both is not ideal. I worry about managing them on buses. Is there anything out there more along the lines of a lightweight buggy, that isn't wider than 60cm, and suitable from birth?

We have had to prioritise light weight and good fold over everything else, basically. We looked at things like the Bugaboo Bee (just a little too heavy for us) and Babyzen Yo-yo (good, but somehow felt like a newborn wasn't well enough protected from the elements - I'm probably being a bit precious though!)

In the end, we got a Maxi Cosi Laila (a new model is coming out later in the year, so there are good deals on the old model). Probably the easiest fold I've tried, genuinely one-handed, and about 7 kilos. I liked that it has a slightly more substantial carry cot for the tiny ones.

Doesn't get talked about a lot on here, but worth a look, I think!

Not going to be the best for off-roading though.

I've heard Mountain Buggy does a good lightweight that's slim but also ok on more difficult surfaces.

dreichuplands · 10/06/2019 18:36

There is a reason I ended up with multiple prams and pushchairs, it is very difficult to find one that is good at everything.

pinkcardi · 10/06/2019 18:44

We had a similar list and in the end decided that our priority was narrow, light weight and all the way through.

So we went with the bugaboo bee. It's light enough to carry up and down steps and tube stairs with baby inside, narrow enough for any shop I've been in, great on buses, travelled extensively at airports without issue. I also liked that it was reversible and we still use it now with our second toddler.

It won't however do much off-roading, paths and grass are fine, mud and sand less so.

Fold does requires two hands but this has never been an issue for us, it's very easy to fold/unfold.

I have a Cybex Balios S, which I think covers everything on your wish list. I love mine. It's got big wheels and an easy one hand fold, and fits into a small space in the hallway of my flat. I've had many prams for both DC's but this one is by far my favourite.

Katiem1234 · 10/06/2019 19:15

I think the baby jogger vue would cover all your must haves and some of your nice-to-haves. I nearly bought it myself, it looked very practical to me as I live in a first floor flat and will have to carry pushchair up and down. Looks easy to fold and also loved you could have it parent facing once they outgrow the soft carrycot that comes with it, lie-flat seat rather than bucket(looks comfier to me) and I think its got a good seat size so shouldn't need another. Only reason I didn't is because I saw something else secondhand very cheaply locally, baby isn't here yet but so far I really love it other than that it seems quite heavy compared to a lightweight stroller, but hoping I'll just get used to it and build up some arm strength lol.

Katiem1234 · 10/06/2019 19:19

I'm not sure how big your budget is, but I know bugaboo are releasing the bugaboo ant soon. I have no idea how much it'll be, because its a bugaboo I'm assuming a lot. But may be worth looking into as that may also fit your criteria!

ohdearthehouseisburningdown · 10/06/2019 19:20

I have the cybex eezy s twist and I love it but not the wheels are small. They are bringing a new version with bigger wheels out soon though!

LauraPalmersBodybag · 10/06/2019 19:22

Don’t buy an Uppababy Cruz if you want off road - mine couldn’t cope with living on a street with leaf mulch through the autumn, and I live in a city.

Echoing what pp have said, there isn’t one that does it all.

Babyjogger city GT is a pretty good bet - not sure about the width though

SundayMorningSun · 10/06/2019 20:14

Bah, I've autocorrect. My post should have said Laika, not Laila.

PeachPotato · 10/06/2019 21:00

Maxi cosi Stella fits all your criteria except high up seat. Phil and teds Mod might fit the bill?

Beeseeinya · 10/06/2019 22:08

Thanks all lots to add to my research list!
Should have clarified that this needs to be suitable from birth.
The bugaboo bee is just over 60cm in the wheel base unfortunately so will not fit through our door!
Thanks for the tip on the cruz. DP favours that one and I have been feeling it won't suit us because of the wheels. We are in a town but I do want to go on countryside walks sometimes.

Actually maybe I've mixed the bee up with something else. I'm sure we measured it in mothercare and it was too wide but the specs say 53cm. I'll look again!

I just realised another criteria that rules out so many... the depth of the wheelbase, has to be under 80cm to fit into our front door. Crazy, yes.

I'm starting to think I will just have to bring baby indoors in the carry cot, then fold down the chassis while it's outside. If I'm doing that, I want a small, lightweight cot addon as I will need to hold it out in front of me to squeeze through the door.

Wow @Beeseeinya do you live in a hobbit house?! When my dd was born we lived in a second floor flat, I used to keep the buggy in the boot of our car and just carry her down, I don’t know if that helps? It was pretty useful, though I was stuck if she was asleep and I wanted to go home...

I’d suggest looking at something with a decent carry handle/bumper bar so that you can click it on and off.

The Cruz actually is really good for this, but the wheels are in no designed for mud, leaves etc. If it’s only occasional country use could you use a sling/buy a cheap off-road buggy second hand?

Babyzen yo-yo might fit your bill, but you’d need an off road alternative.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 11/06/2019 19:37

Babyjogger city mini is 61cm wide and 15kg, easy to fold and suitable from birth. Not parent facing though. There is the zip too but I’m not sure if that’s suitable from birth.

emma8t4 · 14/07/2019 10:38

Must admit that I’m not sure about the width but I’m looking for something similar what about

Icandy raspberry
Armadillo flip xt
Quail
