Does this baby shade look safe?

Sorry wasn't sure where to post. 2nd baby is due mid June and we have a pram with a hood (so not a pushchair/buggy) and I remember from using it with my son that it doesn't provide complete shade (it's a similar design to the pram in the product pictures).

I'm very aware of the advice not to drape blankets or muslins over prams because of the risk of overheating. All the reviews on parasols seem to indicate they are a total pain and always falling off, and a lot of the shades seemed designed for more upright buggies rather than a lay flat pram. I'd also prefer to be able to see the baby rather than have one of those full cover dark shades.

Found this on jojomamanbebe and it seems ideal and I can still see the baby. Do you think however that it's safe ie not likely to cause an overheating risk?

Any other suggestions welcome!

I think it looks fine, plenty of opportunity for air to flow through

Thanks. Yes I thought it allowed good air flow. Bit pricey for essentially a muslin but has SPF protection.

I have a similar one... works well for us as it allows plenty of airflow. Plus you don't need to readjust every few mins as with a parasol

Just get one of the special UV rated ones that will fit pram and pushchair? Shade a babe is one brand.

I bought a snoozeshade I am happy with - as it also blocks out all light so DD can sleep. She is a fussy thing and cannot sleep unless in darkness Hmm

I wasn't too keen on the ones like shade a babe to be honest that cover the entire pram/pushchair. If I can find a safe alternative, which I'm hoping this canopy is, then I'd prefer not to have the whole space covered in loads of black material - that's why I originally looked at parasols.

Our buggy when the baby is older has an extended hood bit so it's only for the pram so will probably only use it for one summer.

We've just got back from Santorini with my 7 week old and used the snoozeshade.

It was brill and I would highly recommend it. It's black out, 99% uv protection, ventilated and has a zip so you can see them. It also provided protection from the wind

I've stopped using my parasol and use this all the time. Could not recommend highly enough

Just be careful that baby doesn't get sun reflected onto them via a wall etc. It's much more like a traditional pr sun canopy - not infallible from side sun rays.
