Can you recommend a pram/pushchair for me, please?

Hello all,

I'm expecting my first baby and I'm totally, absolutely overwhelmed by the choice of prams and pushchairs out there. I was hoping that you might have some recommendations to help narrow down the options.

I live in the middle of a city with limited storage and a small car, so I suppose my main concern is that the pushchair is compact when folded - ideally, it would stand upright when folded too as we'd have to keep it in a small storage cupboard at the bottom of our stairwell (no lift in the building).

A narrow wheelbase would be good for manoeuvring around shops etc, and I'd like it to be quite lightweight for getting on and off buses and for the odd occasion when I'd need to take it upstairs.

Other things I'd like would be a large basket, the ability to convert to a double pushchair if I'm lucky enough to have another child, and for it to be fairly robust as I envisage using it quite a lot.

If you've got to the end of that, thank you for reading! Any and all advice will be much appreciated.

We have the Babyzen YoYo and I would think it ticks most of your boxes:
-It’s tiny, fits in the overhead locker of an plane so a small boot is no issue whatsoever
-Does stand up when folded but we tend to hang it on the coat hooks using the shoulder strap- said shoulder strap also makes it a breeze to carry up stairs (we’re in a 3rd floor walk up)
-Definitely narrow and easy on public transport, loved it for buses and the tube when I lived in London- it’s pretty much a one-handed fold, you just have to use 2 hand to fold the handlebar back but this can be done before you remove the baby
-Basket is decent- you can fit a reasonable size shopping bag underneath and still hang a changing bag over the handlebar. There’s a new duffel bag/shopping trolley style add on which I don’t have but it looks good
-It doesn’t covert to a double but does have the option of a buggy board with a seat
-It’s definitely robust, we’ve had ours for nearly 2 years and it’s still going strong which is somewhat of our miracle given the state of our roads/pavements here following a very cold American winter

icandy orange - I have just purchased one of these for my 17 month old (not walking) and my 3 week old baby. So I have the double, which converts back down to a single pushchair whenever I need it - with ease it's just a couple of adaptors.
I believe the frame will stand up on its own when collapsed and I found I could push it with one hand. The basket is big and is also has a built in buggy board.
We always leave our pushchair in the car and just take out the bits that could get damp over the winter then it doesn't take up much space in the house.

Thank you PuzzlingPuzzle. The YoYo was actually one of the first ones I looked at so I'm going to find a stockist nearby and try it out. Thanks to you too, littleleeleanne. How do you find the width of the wheelbase? My sister had an iCandy and I found it quite wide and bulky for getting around the shops - I'm not sure if all the models are the same though? See, totally clueless!! Really appreciate your comments.
