TTC #2 Bugaboo or iCandy?

So we’re currently TTC #2 so hopefully DD will be 2+ when the next baby is born.
We have the Babystyle Egg at the moment and have loved it, the only issue is that when I look at it I don’t see how I will be able to fit DD on the back on a buggy board! I also hate the Egg in tandem, poor DD would be stuffed at the back in the shopping basket and couldn’t see anything!
DH wants a new pushchair with the new baby anyway but is VERY fussy (treats it like buying a car!) and I insist we will need a double but him and my mom don’t think so as we don’t do that much walking (to the park and back or round a shopping centre).

So I wondered if anyone had experience with what the Bugaboo Cameleon with the comfort wheeled buggy board is like? I wanted a Bugaboo with DD but it wouldn’t fit in our boot (we have an estate now so boot space should be fine) but I wonder how easy it is to push with buggy board attached (I’m not that tall) and what it’s like going up kerbs (I have visions of DD falling off!)
(I personally would love the Donkey and I’ve seen them with the buggy board attached slightly off centre to the side where the storage basket is so there’s plenty of room for my feet, or we could have it as the double, however DH is not keen on the price tag!)

OR the other option we’re looking at is the iCandy Orange as it has the “built in” buggy board on the back of the frame, and again I like how it has so many configurations as a double, has anyone had one and how did you get on?

Or any other suggestions are welcome, baring in mind fussy hubby likes the more “premium” brands.

When you say 2+, it really depends whether you are looking at just turned 2 or almost 3. For just turned 2, I would recommend double as first child will get tired and want a rest (my 2 year old rediscovered her love for her buggy when her sibling started sitting in it!). Can likely get away with buggy board for closer to 3 year gap.

Age gap between mine is just under 2 and we eventually got a Babyjogger City Mini double which is brilliant. Its a side by side but fits through all standard doorways, much better on the back then a tandem too. Pushes like a dream outside and on kerbs. Seats lie flat and can get a bassinet for newborn if you prefer. I've heard great things about Out and About too. Both are good brands with great reviews

I wouldn't recommend iCandy as tandem as toddlers outgrow the seat so quickly. I have a couple of friends that bought Peach when we all had our firsts with intention of having 2 close together and converting to a double - they ended up getting a separate side by side because toddlers were too big to be comfortable in the seat.

Thanks for your reply!
We’re really hoping for as close to 2 as possible but we’ll have to wait and see 🤞
Do you know if the Babyjogger or Out and About are just doubles or convert to singles? That was one of the main attractions to the iCandy and Bugaboo, that once DD was too big we could still use it as a single.
Thanks for the advice on the iCandy! That’s the same problem I have with my Egg, it just doesn’t look big enough for a toddler.

Our age gap is 18 months and we bought a second hand Donkey. We already had a Cameleon but didn't think DD would walk enough to not need a double. The big thing I liked about the donkey is that it faced me when DS was a baby and he could be in a carrycot and DD could face me or face away. The other thing with having a double is if your DC is a runner they're strapped in, on a board you've got to keep an eye on them and grab them. They're 14months and 2 and a half now and we use the double version less but still occasionally need it. Plus the shopping basket on the side is brilliant.

BJCM and Out and About are just doubles. Mountain buggy can be used as a single with basket on the side similar to the Bugaboo Donkey but not quite as expensive. It can also be adjusted to have baby rear facing if you have the newborn carrycot which is a bonus - if buying brand new, its what I would have bought but I didn't want to spend much and there were no second hand ones in my area.

Saying that, we've kept our original single and use that when we have just one of the 2 children or are going somewhere that toddler will walk.

Completely agree with pp about buggy board, I can't trust toddler to stay by me when stopping in shop or paying for something too. Can see double being used less so over next year but couldn't live without it at the moment

Bugaboo donkey is brilliant. You have a big boot, so should fit the car. You can have it single to double. Ane the buggy board being offset, means you don’t kick it when walking. The side basket is also very handy.

Icandy orange-never has one, but I love the idea of a built in step for a toddler. This would be very handy. I just feel the overall look and feel of the bugaboo is better quality having played with the orange in JL.

The mountain buggy duet in herringbone is lovely too. I’d certainly look at one of those Smile

Donkey is sounding promising 😍 and DH is coming round to the idea now we’ve seen one in our local Mothercare, we just need the baby to put in it now!

@MMama18 the silvercross wave it fab for this, it has a buggy board that can clip on & of but also you can use it as a double without buying any extras for at least 6 months!
