Best stroller for twins (in London)

Hi everyone!
I’m expecting twins this summer and already started thinking about what type of stroller would be best.
We live in London and I’m planning to walk a lot, and take public transport as we don’t have a car.

So I was thinking:

  • Side by side or tandem? I’ve heard that side by side is preferrable for twins as they can communicate?
  • Which brand and model is the best? It needs to be light and not too big (to fit in the public transport and through our tiny door).
  • 3 in 1, from newborn to toddler - is it feasible?

Any advice appreciated!

Many thanks

since you live in London, I would personally go for a tandem. I have 3 year old twins, and i have found that it was easier to fit a tandem pushchair through doorways to shops etc, down the isle past tills and just navigating a busy street.

this one here is suitable from birth, and it is compatable with car seats, so when they get older you will be able to fit them, making it look like this.

congratulations, and all the best x

Have a look at the baby jogger tour double, not out yet but their existing doubles get good reviews and this one will be compact.

Mountain buggy duet is great - tandem, suitable from newborn up to toddler, only 6cm wider than a standard single buggy so I never had trouble fitting it anywhere. You can get two of them onto London buses no problem.

There’s a new mountain buggy duet nano as well which folds up really small.

I had a baby jogger city mini, where in London are you? Are we talking zone 1-3? You may struggle with a side by side if so as the pavement space is limited, but I had a tandem before and turning the thing round required my own mini roundabout. The turn on a side by side is much smaller. Fits through almost every door too, even the ancient lift in the British library!

My main station is kings cross and I can take the double there very easily because of the lifts.

Thanks everyone! We’ve just moved to a new flat and the doorway + corridor are extremely narrow (not even a bike can come through). So I think that a tandem is the only option now.
And yes, we live in Zone 2 and I’m still optimistic, hoping that I can manage to get out and take the tube/bus to Zone 1.

Thanks again for all the suggestions!
