Help finding a stroller

Hi all
Im looking for a stroller to fit our daily requirements and im having trouble finding anything that fits them so wondering if anyone could help us Smile
We're looking for a stroller car seat combo that can take a car seat while the seat unit is in place we've found one we like which is the Joie Litetrax 4 with the Igemm seat but ive read the basket is hard to reach when the car seat is in place as the basket is low down. We also want something with a parent tray so i have somewhere to put my coffee and keys etc which the litetrax also has but many others don't Confused i don't want anything with a carrycot and not bothered about parent facing as the car seat will parent face for the first few months anyway so i can see baby but struggling to find anything like this that isn't a U.S model on Amazon international and i don't really want to import one if i can help it!!
Thanks for any suggestions
Something like the pics attached is what im after

I haven't bought a buggy for a long time, but they uswd to sell, those kinds of buggies in Mothercare. Have you looked there?
Things have certainly changed though, somewhere to put your coffee never used to be on people's pram-must-have lists!

Nedzilla · 09/01/2019 11:36

A newborn baby shouldn't be in a car seat for more 30 mins at a time as from current nhs advice unless necessary ie essential car travel needed. They car seat on pram should only be used for quick trips ie into doctors from car, not day to day
Hence why they don't really sell the type of pram you have added above. Also a tray for keys is a bit pointless. you can just add a 'pram organiser' to virtual any pram if you want something like that.

Many prams are suitable from birth without a carrycot noodays. if you look on mothercare, john lewis or similar websites just tick the 'suitabel from birth options'. its basically any pram that lies fully flat.

Madwomanuptheroad · 09/01/2019 11:48

A car seat is not a replacement for a carrycot. A baby needs to lie flat at the beginning. Having a baby in a car seat can restrict their breathing and impact on the development of the spine.
In a car they are needed for safety. Outside the car it may be convenient for the parent but not good for the baby.
Look for a buggy that either has a seat that Les completely flat or a carrycot. If you want parent facing get one with a reversible seat.

Madwomanuptheroad · 09/01/2019 11:54

Looked at the prams you linked to. They used to be about quite a few years ago, usually made by Graco. I think with current knowledge re physical neurological child development they are not really regarded as very healthy for healthy development.
There was a time around thirteen years ago when it was hard to find anything else.

Pramdilemma · 09/01/2019 22:35

Obviously im aware of car seat safety Hmm knew there would be at at least ine know it all desperate to pipe up about that 😂 we've found a few in mothercare we like a Joie Muze and Hauck Shopper not sure the hauck looks very sturdy though and DH thinks the wheels are quite hard to push. Going to have another look at imports from Amazon. Btw im from the USA where these systems are commonly used and always have been and we've never had a case of a baby stop breathing or having a curvy spine from been in the seat too long so i think its just scaremongering to get you all buying extra carrycots as we don't use them in the U.S. and its called a bassinet over there

Pramdilemma · 09/01/2019 22:36

And Graco is the most popular in the U.S. followed by Chicco a lot of my friends have the Graco Fastfold set so that is on my list

Out N About Nipper 360 is an excellent buggy. You can buy adaptors to attach a car seat as well as a newborn insert for the buggy seat. We also have a fabric cup holder with space for keys and a phone, etc which attaches to the handle.
It’s the best buggy/ stroller I have ever used, brilliant on and off road. I hope they’re available in the US!
Good luck 😊

Google Positional Asphyxiation.

Honestly, if you love the American set ups so much just bite the bullet and import one.

There’s a reason though that they aren’t popular throughout the EU and therefore aren’t widely available, and it’s not because of a powerful Carrycot Lobby preventing them being sold Hmm.

Celebelly · 09/01/2019 22:48

You can get lie-flat car seats which might be an idea if you're planning to use it often/for longer periods. We have one that attaches to a Baby Jogger Mini GT - it just clips on and off the adaptors without having to faff around with the rest of the pram.

RCohle · 09/01/2019 23:05

OP there have in fact sadly been a number of deaths in the US caused by asphyxiation associated with sitting and carrying devices.

Here is an article from the journal of paediatrics: www.jpeds.com/article/S0022-3476(15)00345-5/pdf

There is a reason this type of buggy isn't popular in Europe. Obviously the choice is up to you.

Nedzilla · 10/01/2019 14:08

There are many deaths each year from car seats in the USA. They can't say 100% all were from car seats, but most were from lack of oxygen due to babies position in car seat, some would obviously be unrelated.

Its a choice people make. Car seat in car is far safer than no car seat, so the car seat is used. Car seat used for baby napping on floor in house, or for a day trip isn't the safest, as their are other options.

If you want to use something like this, get a decent baby sling also so baby can be swapped in and out when out for a longer day.

A carrycot isn't needed on most prams btw. the one you listed lies flat, so would be suitable for baby to use from birth lying down in main seat rather than car seat when it isnt needed.

something similar in the uk would maybe be the cybex eezy s +, plus car seat. It can be used from birth in main seat, folds quite small and car seat from cybex can be added

bookmum08 · 10/01/2019 14:18

Argos sell some that are the type you are after.

Pramdilemma · 10/01/2019 18:19

My mom is going to order one from home to the UK for me if i pick one out. We did look at argos but none of them had parent trays so would be useless to me i have to have a parent tray i don't get how UK parents manage without them don't you have keys phones and coffee etc you need close to hand ? I did look at those fabric organisers you can attach but they don't look very safe to have a coffee cup in them

OP posts:
RCohle · 10/01/2019 20:11

Well as long as your coffee cup is safe Hmm

Printerneedsink · 10/01/2019 20:20

How about putting keys and phone in your changing bag? And having a coffee before you go out or when you get or home, or in a cafe, or while sitting on a park bench etc....?

Celebelly · 10/01/2019 20:25

Pretty sure at least some prams can have a parent console attached. Mine can. It has a cup holder and pockets for phone etc. I doubt it's the only one!

StrawberryTraveller · 11/01/2019 12:02

I wouldn't ever put a cup of hot coffee on something moving over bumps above a babies head!
Wouldn't keys and phone be likely to drop off or be stolen left just lying ontop on a pram?

Pramdilemma · 12/01/2019 02:13

Really your a parent and you don't have a coffee or tea on the go at all times ? 😂 id die without my coffee. I did have another google for plastic trays but didn't gind anything just the flimsy fabric add on things which looks useless. And no my phone and keys won't get stolen whst neighborhood do you live in Confused British parents seem fearful of everything

OP posts:
PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/01/2019 02:25

You know literally every UK pram manufacturer sells a cup holder which clips on to the buggy frame independently?

They're usually about a tenner.

The attached tray is a really dated feature which is totally unnecessary for most people- it adds weight and makes the frame less compact, hence why you don't see them on modern prams.

Also- coming on to a UK parenting forum and accusing UK parents of being overly risk conscious isn't going to win you many friends.

flugelhorn811 · 12/01/2019 08:08

Um I live in London and wouldn't walk around with my keys and phone on a tray...but then isn't that what a bag is for anyway? Sorry, I digress.

MummySharkBabyShark · 12/01/2019 15:52

Those are really old fashioned pushchairs maybe try charity shops and buy a new car seat.

HermioneWaslib · 13/01/2019 19:27

Don’t import a US car seat. They don’t work the same over here as our seatbelts work differently.
