Anyone used a maclaren quest with a newborn??

I'm in the midst of trying to choose a pram/travel system and it's occurred to me I already have a car seat suitable from birth (joie stages) but it's fixed in car style not carry handle style. I also have a Maclaren Quest which is suitable from birth.

I'm a childminder so already have tonnes of baby/toddler bits, but generally don't care for tiny newborns since my own son was one and he's now a teen.

Is it really worth me getting a travel system when I already have a pushchair and car seat I could use? I like the idea of a flat moses style pram for when they're tiny, the carry handle car seat I'm not so fussed about as I wouldn't want to leave them in there too long anyway. Yes a lovely new travel system would be nice, but it's also a pretty big purchase when technically do I really need it?

All thoughts appreciated . (Will check back later am heading out)

I have the Quest and I can't imagine using it with a really new newborn unless you had some serious padding, but I agree it seems a waste to buy a whole system when you could definitely use the Quest after a few weeks/months. Do you have a friend who you could borrow a bassinet style one from for a month or so, or you could use a sling and then lay flat at home.

I don’t think so as the baby can’t lie flat and they’re a bit flimsy

Sorry

I haven't personally but know someone who has and it was fine, she just padded it with a sheepskin liner to make sure it was comfy.

I prefer parent facing and large wheels but that's down to our lifestyle and where we live rather than necessity.

If you wanted you could buy a second hand carrycot/parent facing pushchair or maybe a stretchy sling for the first few months.

You've all posted the sorts of second thoughts I was having. I can't imagine a tiny newborn in it, despite it saying suitable from birth. It's a fab pushchair but youngest I've had in it as a childminder is 6 months. Also, after what is proving to be a tough pregnancy I think I'd quite like to gaze adoringly at baby in a parent facing pram for a while after they're born.

Second hand travel system it is then! Grin
