Reasonably priced prams

Hi All.

I am looking for a new pram but I am getting very frustrated because all the pram shops around me are very expensive. Shopping for baby equipment is really important to me as it allows for bonding time with my mum and mother-in-law. Also having a hands on experience when choosing a pram. I don't want to go ordering one online to find out that it doesn't fit in my car, its too flimsy, too heavy, or just doesn't suit my needs, then to have to faff around sending it back etc.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks xxx

Go to the shops and have a play, then find one in great condition on eBay, gumtree etc. I had to pretty much give away an amazing Mamas and Papas pushchair in excellent condition, for next to nothing, because people think you have to buy new. There was nothing wrong with it. This way, you could get exactly what you want for a much better price

Have a look at Venicci. Basic model about £450 at an independent pram shop. Takes a maxi Cosi cabriofix with adapters. I like mine because it's a simple fold and lightweight enough to throw in and out the boot of a 4x4 at 7 months pregnant with no2. Connectors for seat unit a bit awkward as needs two hands, but build quality very good, air tyres and some nice new colours. Not convertible into a tandem, so... Bought a Phil and Ted sport with double kit for £450ish from Precious Little One because they had a deal on. Took 3 weeks to come. Pram is great to push and compact. But it's much heavier than the Venicci and the fold will take practice. Also air tyres and quite sporty looking for not mega money when looking for a tandem. Take a look at some of Mothercare's own brand ones as well. They looked good value and I thought a lot of the fabrics looked nice.

I felt similar and did a 1.5 hour drive to go to Kiddicare in Peterborough as they had some slightly less popular brands to look at. It was very worthwhile for me as I ended up buying a pushchair they have on display which no other shop near me sells. I've been really pleased with it and am pretty sure it gives the equivalent expensive brands a run for its money!

Get a baby jogger city mini and don’t worry about a carrycot as you can put it flat (maybe get a sheepskin or something to put inside) £250, really easy to steer and folds up really easily. You can get car seat adapters or a carrycot if you need it but we never did.
