Will I need a double buggy for a 2 year old and newborn?

I am due with my second baby at the start of October and when October rolls around DD will have just turned 2 (birthday right at the end of August.)
Basically, I'm wondering if I will need a double buggy? DD has only just started walking - started small steps at 17 months now she is nearly 20 months, I do get her out of her single buggy to walk around as much as I can but she gets tired after about half an hour she gets tired and wants to get back into her pushchair for a rest.
I do not drive so rely on buses every day to get out as I live in a small village too.
My in laws seem to think by the time she is 2 she will not need a double buggy - but then again, they're very opinionated people! Hmm
A buggy board I don't think would be doable as DD wouldn't stand nicely on one for long periods. She is also starting nursery in September for 3 days a week and I am 99% sure that when I go to pick her up from nursery she will be absolutely shattered! So that's another reason why I'm thinking a double buggy maybe wise at this stage.
I'm just wondering if any ladies had this age gap or a similar one and what you did to get your babies around?

We didn't. First we had baby in a sling and toddler in the buggy. Then we Got by with buggy board or toddler walking.

Another vote for a Phil and teds here! I had a similar age gap and DD would not have managed a buggy board at 2. I've used it on the bus lots and it takes up no more room than a lot of single pushchairs. On our buses it even fits down the corridor from the front door. I do have a car but found it easier to take the DCs in the pushchair on the bus than put everything into the car to be honest. We got ours off eBay too and it's been great.

I have a Phil and teds sport I think. It's seriously compact. Smaller than my single. I use the extra seat on top and have the back lowered with the newborn cocoon. So easy 👍🏻 26 months between mine.

I had 16 months between mine. I just used the single buggy for the baby and let the 16 month old walk beside it with baby reins on.
She soon built up her stamina and leg muscles- I think it was much better for her than being pushed along in a buggy forever.
We live in a rural hilly area, and even single buggies aren’t practical when out hill walking. I encouraged both girls to get walking as soon as possible. Also money was tight and I doubt we could have afforded a double buggy. They were a fairly new idea back then, and v expensive.

Another Phil & Teds fan here. We had a Navigator, which is one of their more compact models I think. I walked for what felt like 100s of miles with it on all sorts of terrain, laden with shopping, library books and park toys. I called it my car!

The Phil and ted we had (sport maybe?) had a 20kg seat and a 25kg seat I believe, another reason we went for it.
As I said before tho DS was too big for the double seat once he was about 14mo (although he is on 91st centile length)

I've just bought a Phil and Ted's sport from Precious Little One for £449 with the double kit thrown in if anyone is looking for a deal on a new one. Taken about 3 weeks to dispatch but should be here by end of the week (excited!)

There's 15 months between mine. I had a tandem at first. It was easy to get on the bus, but as the youngest got a bit older, he would kick the back of the other seat and annoy his brother.
I swapped for a side by side. I had to send it back because it was too wide for the bus.
I found one by kidzkargo, it was one of the slimmest ones and cheapest.
It's great, the kids have plenty of room and I can get it on the bus!

If you’d rather have a side by side and be able to put the car seat on it, the Mountain Buggy Duet is great and not much wider than an inline one, although I’m not sure about space for the bigger one.

Mothercare do a really good value inline one that extends but one of the seats can only be used from six months upwards, so it’s only suitable for situations like yours, not twins. Think it was about £350

I had an in line double buggy (Not sure if that's the official name, I mean the phil and teds style where one is over the other not two side by side).

It was great ! The best thing was that in Newborn mode, the baby was in a sort of bag on a shelf that went above the toddler, and you couldn't see her from the front so people were always surprised to see her come out.

I got it second hand and then sold it again a year later for virtually the same money.

22 month gap here (kids are 3 months and 2 years 1 month) and I wouldn't be without my Out n About Nipper double. I walk a lot with the boys, my 2 year old is a late walker and a flight risk.
