Bugaboo Chameleon or Bee?

Trying to decide between the two for DS3 and swinging towards the Chameleon mainly as I had a Bee for DS1 and 2 and secrely always wanted the Chameleon as I love the way it looks. My only concern is how big/wide it is. Is it still ok to get on/off London buses with, and in and out shops? I loved the bee as it was so small and light but it did often feel like a shopping trolly and very rickety once we have the bugg board attached and I was using it for 2 kids. DH also want a buggy he can take to the park/to rugby etc which the bee isn't good for as the small wheels don't fare well on mud/grass/rougher terrain. That said, 90% of the time I will be using the buggy on London streets, parks etc. Any views on either buggy and what might work better for us? Wondering if any Chameleon using find it too big/wide for use on buses etc.

For what youve described I’d stick with the Bee and buy a cheap (second hand?) all terrain beast for the odd park/rugby trip. I have friends with the chameleon and they all replaced with bees/Maclarens/yoyos once the kids were 6 months as it’s a nightmare on the bus/tube. The small wheels on the front of chameleon also mean it’s not brilliant at off-roading.

Thanks troubled, that is helpful. Anyone else?

No helpful advice to add, but when I saw the title in Active Threads, for one horrible moment I thought that this was a "What do you think of these names for my baby?" thread Grin

Ha ha!! So funny Freshstart. It wouldn't surprise me TBH!

Bump. Anyone else? I really want the chameleon but think the Bee will suit our needs better. Any Cam fans who can dissuade me?

I have both!
I did find the cam a struggle in shops, and quite heavy in general but I am abit weak!
Use the chameleon for parks and stuff like that

I love the bee, perfect for the nursery run
Also much much easier to fold!
So if I could only have one it would be the bee!

I had a Chameleon (got it for free second hand) and I always felt like it was the emperors new clothes of pushchairs. It was fine, but wasn't that good off road, was quite bulky and it was just a bit..... Meh. I never understood the hype around it.

If you liked the Bee I would probably just stick to that.

GoodluckJonathan76 · 12/03/2018 11:15

Thank you both. The bee it is. Why is getting a new buggy so exciting? I am VERY sad!!

Well I was overly excited about getting a new hood colour for my bee so I completely understand the excitement 🤗🤗

I've bought a cameleon 3 for my baby due in May. I haven't used it yet so this thread is interesting. The Bee just looked really awful, I couldn't get past those massive curved metal bits either side of the pushchair. It's not a sexy (for want of a better word) looking pushchair in my mind.
I hope the cameleon 3 is easy to push. The option to change the big wheels to the front seems like a good idea for tougher terrain.

RatRolyPoly · 12/03/2018 14:23

I think you've made the right decision, although I love my Cameleon. The trick to off-roading is to flip the handle so the big wheels are at the front on rough terrain/gravel. I never take ours within a mile of a bus though; we have a little light stroller for that as it can be folded up and down quickly, whereas the Cam you have to take the seat off and put it to one side; I mean it's just not as easy as an umbrella-type action.

Happy shopping!

I have a cameleon in north London, and live it. Perfect for long walks and negotiating hills, or for pushing around parks etc. Easily fits on and off London bus.

DD is 4 and we still use it for nursery runs.

You can get an extra set of the larger wheels to replace the normal front ones on the Chameleon, making it better off-road.
