Hiiii 😬
As title says, pretty clueless and confused after looking at around 148595 different pram systems!!
This will be our first child, we would like it to be-
Suitable for a small boot
Preferably a travel system with carry cot and attachable car seat
Easy enough for me to use alone (I don't drive so bus journeys!)
Durable (again I do a lot of walking)
Please leave your recommendations 😘

Don’t spend a fortune and do buy second hand! The icandy is very easy to fold and beautifully easy to use but I find it needs a lot of car space when folded.

I think the Ickle Bubba stomp folds really small but I haven’t used one.

If you’re going to be walking a lot then you’ll need something that’s comfortable for your baby and easy for you to push.
If you use the bus a lot you’ll want a compact and easy to fold buggy.
Go second hand and buy one of each.

Having a small boot and using the bus will require a compact, easy one piece fold.

Do you walk a lot? Are you a city dweller or do you have lots of uneven ground to walk on?

If you walk a lot on uneven ground you'll need something with big wheels and good suspension to avoid baby rattling around and for pushing comfort.

If you mainly bus everywhere and walk mainly on smooth, flat ground you could get away with something smaller.

Personally, as someone who used buses with young DC's I preferred a lie flat, parent facing seat and comfy sheepskin liner to make it snuggly for a newborn as opposed to a carrycot as it made life a lot easier when folding!

Car seats are handy for nipping out for 5 minutes, into the doctor's etc but not so good for long periods of time as it's not good for a small babies posture/breathing to be hunched up. So it might be worth looking at decent pushchairs then adding a car seat which fits your car with the bonus that it could go on the pushchair occasionally.

Also whats your budget?

I love the bugaboo bee for public transport.

After 4 children I have finally learnt that you really don't need an all singing and dancing pram with loads of extras. If I have another I will go for with the Silver Cross reflex or Maclaren XLR. Both of which are suitable from birth and can also hold a car seat. The best thing about them is that they're light weight and fold down small.

Another thing to consider is the shape of your boot, if it's small as in depth between the door and backseat then you'd be better with a flat fold where the pushchair closes in half rather than a long umbrella fold as it'll give you more space.

Can you get to Mothercare, Smyth's, Toys R us, John Lewis type stores to try some out?

Some things are personal preference, I really couldn't get on with 2 handles so needed a solid bar and we needed adjustability as I'm almost a foot shorter than DH.
