My beloved Buggy has died i may cry. What shall i get now for 3 dc?

I have had an Uppababy Vista from 2012 and now 3 children under 6. I usually have one in the rumble seat and one on the buggy board and baby in the toddler seat.

The metal in the chassis has completely come apart. I am waiting for a tyre welding place to look at it, but if they can't fix it (doubtful) then i need a new one.

As my dc are now 5, 3 and 1 and the 5 year old should be walking (in theory but he has ASD and often refuses). Any suggestions on a sturdy buggy for older kids and shopping?

I love the Vista but think a new one is a bit too much for only 2 more years of the baby in it.

I'd get a second hand upper baby off ebay, lots on there that are still in great condition and should last a couple of years.

MyKidAreTakingMySanity · 27/11/2017 12:12

Can you not pick up a second hand chassis from eBay? I replaced a few parts of my Quinny by buying bargain second hand ones and stripping them of the good bits 😂

yes - i'm looking but they are all a long way away for collection.

Right back to plan a i think. I can't buy a chassis as the 2 which were offering delivery are now not. Or at least not for another week at least and i really need a buggy asap.

I just did the school run with DD in one of those back carriers and it nearly killed me.

I'm driving the chassis to a car wheel welding place now to see if they can patch it up. But i am also going to start scouting for another buggy.

Our uppababy chassis came apart, it was over 2 years old so out of guarantee, but uppababy still fixed it free of charge for us as it was a manufacturing fault and shouldn't have come apart the way it did, even with heavy use. They collected the frame, loaned us a buggy while it was with them then collected the loan and delivered our buggy back. (With a new frame in the end). It's worth contacting them and asking what they can do! Repairs through them aren't they expensive if you'll do have to pay!

MrsKoala · 28/11/2017 09:56

They told me they don't do repairs anymore (when i had this buggy repaired a year ago - they had already replaced the chassis 18 months earlier). They suggested Buggy Pit Stop in Wembley - who were awful. They fucked up the collection. Lost the buggy in their warehouse and had it for 3 weeks. And cost £350. Delivery and collection was loads too. I'd rather buy a new buggy than go with them again.

The ABC adventure triple is AMAZING. All three, including the 5 year old can lie flat and sleep in their own little seatbed thing, and it has the build quality of a German tank. Best thing I ever got. (Had 3 under 2)

queenofthesheds · 28/11/2017 10:00

And you’ll resell it for at least what you paid.

A new range Uppbababy is coming out so John Lewis are currently discounting the 2015 model Cruz and vistas.

My eldest has ASD, and loved that he could be zipped into his own little “cell” on the top of the ABC. God I miss that pram! Better than my first car.

MrsKoala · 28/11/2017 10:07

The back carrier is a weight in itself. I've had lots of shoulder, back and knee problems too so that wont have helped. But i felt like my lungs were being crushed. She's 11kg. So a chunk, but not that bad.

I have a moby wrap i may dig out and see if i can put her on my hip for pick ups.

My fear is one of the boys refusing to walk and me having to carry them too. They also come out of school with 2 bags and junk fucking modelling (but that's a whole new thread of rage Grin ).

Yes, the buggy is more important to me than the car. I only drive about once a week but walk everywhere with the buggy. When we buoght it it cost more than both our cars put together. Altho that says more about the shit heaps we drove! Grin
