Babyzen Yoyo+ review?

We’re having DC1 next spring and looking at a pushchair that will work as a pram for a baby and then pushchair for a toddler. We also live in a small house with limited storage in central London so space is an issue.

We were looking at the Babyzen Yoyo+. It seems to fold down into something tiny! Anyone have experience of this model, or could recommend another?

Thanks @LuckyTwiglet and @QueenOfTheAndals.

lucky which one are you using at the moment?
queen did you consider the bee and if so why did you choose Yoyo? I just keep reading about people recommending the Yoyo as a "travel" or "holiday" pushchair, which makes me think that maybe it's not perfect for a lot of everyday use?

It's cheaper than the bee, but the bee seems to be a little bit more substantial and whilst bigger than the Yoyo, it's still quite small so I'm wondering whether the size of the Yoyo means it's really worth compromising on stuff like the parent facing option, adjustable handlebars, extendable seat etc?

Also, we will often take public transport but rarely go in the car - will I be folding it a lot or just pushing it on to tubes and buses with the baby in it?! Totally clueless first time parent here.

harrietm87 we are using the other, larger buggy at the moment, we will probably be using it till end of Feb. Basically the Zen is less versatile but is really good for certain specific external situations (eg, we have steep steps down into our flat which I can carry the Zen up and down because it is so light), or if you were doing loads of regular tube journeys. I think if I had my time again and if I was advising someone else I might say go for the slightly larger, more versatile buggy unless you have very specific requirements like I had, as you have no idea what your baby will be like. A significant number of people have had to go from bassinet to seated parent facing at an angle, prior to proper forward facing buggy set-up. Zen can't do that, and it may end up being really important for you for a while.

harriet, we were living in a first floor flat when DS was born and I wanted something I could fold one-handed and carry upstairs, though it's so light that when DS was tiny I could lift it upstairs while he was still in it.

The Bee requires two hands, or at leas the model that was out 4 years ago did. I don't do any offroad walking and take public transport a lot and the Yoyo is so tiny that even if there was a wheelchair on the bus, I could usually still fit it in the space. It's not parent-facing from 6 months but tbh that didn't bother me or DS as he preferred looking out at the world. He was also more likely to sleep in it if he couldn't see me!

You'll be able to get it on buses without folding (unless there are several other strollers already on board) but the tube will be trickier as very few stations have step free access from ticket hall to platform.

Thanks @QueenOfTheAndals that's so helpful. So did you carry the pram with baby in it down to the tube or did you lift baby out first? Think I'm going to have to try out the folding etc before I can really decide.

@LuckyTwiglet I meant which brand of pram are you currently using? Just wondering whether to add more to my list of options!

John Lewis offers a free baby store tour - they will show you all the models and explain pros and cons!

I think buggy plus tube = tricky, regardless of buggy. So few tubes have lifts, so would definitely be a two people job getting the buggy plus baby up and down the escalators... unless someone tells me you develop super strong arms 💪🏼 from holding the baby!

I tended to take the bus more, but whenever I took the tube there was usually someone obliging around who helped me carry the buggy up and down the stairs!

I have a yoyo and think it’s amazing but in addition to another buggy/pram. It is second to none on the bus/in a tight cafe as it’s tiny. But it is difficult to get up curbs and my nearly 2 year old can almost tip it over by throwing her weight around as it’s so light. I had a bugaboo Chamleon for first 18months. Yoyo not the best for them to sleep in. I think bee a good compromise between a big travel system and a tiny buggy. I have had moments where I have missed the maclaren I had with my son as it was more sturdy!

Tbh I never had a problem getting it up kerbs and my nearly 4yo still uses it if I have to get him to nursery in a hurry.
