Buggy for holidays recommendations

buzzbeebee · 13/08/2017 20:09

Hi all, going on our first family holiday to Spain at end of sept with a then 10 month old. Currently have a oyster max which is too bulky to take with us.
Any recommendations for a lightweight buggy that isn't going to break the bank.

I am pretty clueless, do buggys recline and have hoods? If so that would be bonus

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out pushchairs and buggies. Read our round up buggy reviews to see which stroller was crowned best buggy.

Hope that helps! Flowers

Volo. Doesn't recline but mine always slept in it fine anyway.

We used the hauck sport buggy (usually available at Aldi for £25 during the baby event). Lies flat, folds small, reasonable sized basket and a good hood. We bought it planning to ditch it at the airport after the holiday but it was great and did us many holidays before the wheels started to stick.

IckleBubba Aurora, we got a factory second off eBay for half rrp

Mammatron · 13/08/2017 23:08

I asked the same question on here a few months ago and got lots of recommendations for the armadillo city2- I'm so glad we got it! It fully reclines, has a large hood and folds brilliantly!

Maclaren techno xt all the way....

Maziemouse · 13/08/2017 23:32

Maclaren techno fan here. Great buggy I loved mine so much

AreWeThereYet000 · 13/08/2017 23:32

Mammas and papas pushchair - I got mine for £50 from Asda in their event. Can recline by unclipping the fasten at the back, has a nice big detachable hood and is lightweight

Blondielongie · 14/08/2017 08:36

There's a mothercare one that folds to size size of a small bag. And extremely light. I can't remember the name..

purplemunkey · 14/08/2017 08:41

We got a Joie Nitro for £50 in mothercare last year. Easy fold down, reclines, lightweight but not flimsy. It replaced our normal buggy not long later as it was easier to use.

NonnoMum · 14/08/2017 08:43

I think Mountain Buggy have one that folds down small enough to put in overhead locker...

I just saw a different topic about this Babyzen Yoyo Pushchair. Price looks quite good and it's 6kg. That might be something for you?

AmyOb · 16/08/2017 14:15

My sister has a Recaro Easylife Stroller. I can remember reading the manufacturer's guide and according to it, its only about 5.7 Kg and supposed to be one of the lightest full-size strollers in the market. Whats best is that this one has a hood too. Sometimes when I go shopping with my sister, the hood becomes really useful these days to keep away some kind of sunlight. My niece loves it too and so far there has been no grumbling or stopping her snoozes in it.Grin

Totally love my gb pockit. It folds up so it fits in a bag. Since we bought it we've done loads of flights and never had to put in the hold. It fits in the over head locker which means as soon as we get off the plane we can put DS into it. We bought it when he was 10kg and hard to sling/carry to the luggage area. Our version doesnt recline but I think the new one does.

CottonSock · 16/08/2017 21:23

I'm happy with the ickle bubba for travel although not perfect, its very small snd light, manouverable and lies flat. Good basket. Problem is slumping a bit in seat.
Had a McLaren techno and actually it is just too bulky when folded, crap basket, unstable and can't push one handed. Therefore I didnt like it once my second child arrived and it filled up half the boot.
Much prefer the ickle. A babyzen probably better but much more expensive.
Or mountain buggy nano

MotherofA · 16/08/2017 22:25

I went on to kiddicare and ibaby website and found a black slimline gold up stroller for £35! Perfect and lo didn't mind it at all ! It was defo one of those sites but I don't remember which sorry Smile

RefuseTheLies · 16/08/2017 22:31

I refuse to buy anything branded 'ickle bubba' just out of principle.

We have a silvercross reflex. It's shit. One handed fold my arse.

fabulous01 · 16/08/2017 22:34

Just get a cheap one with a sun/rain cover. It will get trashed with sand and plane or get one second hand

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 17/08/2017 09:35

Refuse, I know, it's a dreadful name. But it's a proper one hand steer, almost a one hand fold, and a one hand to unfold. It also fits in most overhead lockers.

Rents · 17/08/2017 09:42

I bought a second-hand 'City Jogger Lite' for our holiday in Portugal. It was perfect-reclines to almost flat, very large hood for shade and naps, can fold in half one handed and tough wheels for rougher terrain (roads and pavements are always slightly rougher in Europe). Look on your local FB market page for people selling second-hand.
