If your iCandy Raspberry broke for the fourth time....

....which pushchair would you replace it with and why?

As the title suggests, we have had a year of bad luck with our iCandy Raspberry and the brake has just gone for the third time. We've had enough of having to sort the pushchair out every three months and are planning to ask John Lewis to replace it with something else, or for a partial refund.

DS is 18 months, we're not planning a second any time soon so buggy board, etc, not a consideration. We need something less than 60 cm wide, preferably lightweight, with a big basket and a compact fold (freestanding for preference). A one-handed push would be good, and an activity bar would be a bonus. We are urban types and do a lot of walking (pavements) plus public transport.

So far, the Out and About Nipper looks quite good, as does the Mountain Buggy Nano. Or should we be looking at Maclarens? (Eg Quest or Triumph)

Or should we try to get money out of John Lewis and buy a second-hand Bee or a cheapo Maclaren, as we might only need it for another 18 months or so?

That's great service from John Lewis as usual.

I contacted iCandy. They told me the Raspberry hasn't been discontinued. Odd, as Mothercare are clearly not restocking it, they sold the last ones online half price and iCandy haven't had any in stock on their website since before last summer Hmm
Their response to the concerns I raised about build quality was snide and rude. Certainly won't be buying anything iCandy again.

Ohhhh I've just posted with a problem about my Raspberry!!
Cat, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what your footrest was like?
I bought the Raspberry last month on a whim (no research) it was the last one in mothercare and I panicked.
Anyway I used it for the first time last weekend. And the footrest is crap. It doesn't adjust at all. Mothercare agreed it didn't seem right. So they ordered a replacement. But it is exactly the same.
I am now being told the footrest doesn't adjust (basically go away).
Surely this can't be right. I haven't come across any other Raspberrys. So I'm finding it difficult to fight my corner.
Is the footrest that rubbish (turning into worst buy ever) TIA (sorry for high jacking)

OP how did you get on, did you buy something else?

Doing just ask for a refund and buy something else. It doesn't sound like a fault, just a feature you don't like?

Doingitover · 20/04/2017 10:08

Hey name change, yep that is a possibility. Mothercare were originally adamant that it was a fault and that the footrest adjusted so it's thrown me off guard now they have changed tact. My OH thinks it could be the chassis.
It's a lovely little pram. I've already ordered a new accessory pack. So I'm gutted.
But reading reviews on it now. I think it may be best to just return it Sad
So I'm reading this thread in excitement on what to get next. Smile

Doing The footrest isn't supposed to be adjustable. It kind of clicks upwards but then the slightest bit of pressure on it makes it click back down again. I think it just clicks upwards to make it more compact to fold.

A few people have suggested the Armadillo Flip as an alternative to the Raspberry. I have a Cam now as wanted something that will withstand our outdoor adventures. I'll probably get a Maclaren next.
