Recommends for a all terrain pushchairs for my 4yo

My 4.4yo DD has epilepsy, her meds make her tired, so we still need to use a pushchair on outings. I would love for her to walk places, and she does sometimes, but then when we've walked to our destination normally with some moaning, she's then knackered and needs a nap. We are in the process of 'walk training' her, little walks, often. We currently have a Maclaren type stick buggy and it was great when we lived in the city, but we have recently moved to a small country town in a very hilly area.

Have looked at some buggies on the internet, that might cope with her weight/height such as Phil & teds/mountain buggy/out n about type buggies, but I'm not sure what's best. I would hate to waste our money.

We had a Phil and teds buggy. I can't remember the name but you can buy a seat for it to be a double buggy if needed (we needed).

It was a three wheeler and an absolute work horse.
Good quality rain cover. Inflated wheels so easy to push. Comfy handle. The seat you can drop down flat or raise to a seat.
It carried our two until they were 2 and (a very solid) 3 so I'm sure it would manage a four year old.

Just make sure you get a puncture repair kit just in case one wheel goes. We bought the gloopy stuff to put in the tyre which worked really well.

We have the out n about nipper 360. It's great. It has a really big seat too so sounds like it would suit your needs. Also lots of storage which I love. It's really well designed and less faffy than a lot of pushchairs.

Phil and teds are good or have a look for a second hand mothercare urban detour. I had mine from 2006 - 2013 and it racked up a lot of miles, hills and tracks. DS is tall but was in it until well over 4yrs.

It reminded me of the Toyota van on Top Gear, I don't think you can kill them off . But get gloop for the tyres just in case.

I had (still have, I need to get it out of storage and onto eBay!) a lovely pre 2010 mountain buggy. Brill build quality, turn on a sixpence and good roomy seat.

And really good for off road.

I also had a Baby Jogger running pram with big wheels which was good for off road but the front wheel had no swivel setting so it was cumbersome when not going in a straight line. Also the seat was pretty small.

Oh, and if you don't fancy the gloop you can get puncture resistant inner tubes put in in a bike shop, that's what we did.

Your gp could refer you to wheelchair services who might loan something suitable or give you a voucher towards a suitable buggy. Also look at the Newlife charity - they sell on and give away equipment, including buggies to families affected by disabilities and complex medical conditions.

Mountain buggy swift holds DS who is 4.5. Weight limit 20kg. The urban jungle is slightly bigger and goes up to 25kg. UJ is easily sub £100 on eBay. I got the swift because it fits on the bus better.

We used an urban detour till about age 5, mostly as we'd had it for years by then. He was probably over the weight limit, and we did look at the mountain buggy for that reason but the footrest was to short by then. The design of the one we had meant he could sit cross legged and still have somewhere to put his feet.

To be honest if you think you're likely to need a buggy for more than a couple of months I would look at special needs buggies.

Thank you everyone! So much advice to go forward with. A couple of different options that we haven't even considered also.
