Hi I'm looking to downsize from our vista now dd is 2 & want a lightweight stroller which has a big seat & folds relatively compact but also has a decent size basket underneath. Realise I may be asking the impossible but if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears!

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out strollers and buggies. Here's our round up of the best lightweight buggies available to buy now

Hope that helps!

Bugaboo bee appears to have a big seat?

I use a MacClaren XLR (I think) as a boot buggy. The basket is big but can be hard to access sometimes but it is doable. Having had a Bug Donkey, an inline double which I can't remember the name of, a chameleon and now down to just the McClaren, it is super portable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Thankyou. I have a maclaren quest sport at mo - size wise & weight its great but basket is teeny, it tips up every time you hang anything on it & dd gets out, & its not the best to push. Been looking all over but really struggling to find one that ticks all boxes.

BJCMGT perfect in evety way except too heavy for what I need now & hood bit too low for my liking.

Silver Cross pop nice big hood better basket & seems more stable than maclaren but seat so far forward there's no sides so no protection from the elements. & not different enough from maclaren to warrant cost.

Joie Brisk LX biggest basket on umbrella fold I've seen & reasonably nice to fold but didnt seem enough space between seat & footrest for dd's legs!

Cybex Agis looks lovely but basket access rubbish & can't see one in real life.

Are Petit Star Zia still around? Thought the company had ceased trading?

M&P Armadillo XT has one hand fold, though not terribly light weight when folded. You can lift it with one hand. Very big wide seat (needed for my 99th centile toddler) and a sizeable basket underneath. I got it for £149 down from £299 in the last January sales.

Is the seat back tall peace? As in does your toddler have enough room under the hood even when pushed back?
Think the xt may be a bit heavier than I'd like but may look at the regular armadillo if it has enough headroom

Yes he fits comfortably, and it reclines fully as well.

Sorry not really that helpful as see this is an old thread - but Petit star zia has a tiny basket!! I've just started using an old one sometimes, as our CMGT which has been perfect since birth is now just sometimes a bit much now DD is 27m. EG this weekend a train trip to london and going on the tube - needing to fold buggy quickly in fairly crowded places without whacking anyone, and it's a bit heavy for me to carry easily and safely up and down escalators etc. The tiny basket on the zia is actually a blessing in disguise for the times we use it, as we don't put anything in it and hence can fold the buggy up super quickly. When you have to take stuff out of the basket to fold it just makes it all such a faff. So I would think twice about the basket issue if you want to be able to frequently fold the buggy. If you have a toddler you can probably fit everything needed for a day out in a backpack and it makes things a lot easier.

But yes they don't make Petit star zia's any more; however the isafe visual 3 is very similar (a bit heavier though - babytravel told me it was about 8kg whereas the zia is about 6.5kg). If our zia (8 years old!!) fell apart tomorrow I would buy another on ebay in a heartbeat.

BumWad I have sold my vista but I am no further on in my mission to find its replacement! I've fallen back on using our old maclaren quest which I hate (really difficult to push) but its about the only thing I can find that fits in my tiny car boot. I've ordered & returned no end of other buggies that dont fit! So then started looking at these compact fold type buggies like the gb pockit or qbit+, which are a clever design but dd really didnt look that comfy in. The only thing thats impressed me of late is the oyster zero but i'd still have to take a wheel off that to fit it in the car and i'm not sure I can be faffed with that! So will probably end up sticking with the quest as dd hardly wants to go in it now anyway.

We have the brisk as our travel buggy for our son who is 9 months old and he sort of fills it width wise but he does have head room.
What about that baby zen thing?
