Is there a double buggy that would accommodate a 3/4 year old and a baby?

I'm trying to problem solve and come up with strategies that might see me and my children get out and about a bit more. I have a 3.5 year old with a possible diagnosis of SN and a 6 month old.

We coped fine before the baby came along however nowadays taking them both out together is only something that can be safely tackled by two people and that's proving really crap for the summer holidays. I cannot trust my 3 year old to be safe. I have reins that I have to use by the roads, but he has a tendency to bolt and also to throw himself to the ground and refuse to cooperate at all, it's so extreme that coupled with the speech delay they are talking about assessments for ASD.

With this in mind I don't think a buggy board will work for us and whilst he will happily undertake a long walk in one direction he often won't then walk back. I do have an Ergo for the 6 month old but if my older child is having a massive tantrum and I'm struggling to deal with him I also can't then have a baby strapped to my front. I've tried it and it's just really dangerous.

So I'm wondering if there is a pushchair that would seat a tall three year old and a six month old? I was looking at Phil and Teds and thinking about just getting one second hand. We have s beautiful nature reserve locally that I could take them both too but I'm hesitant as I think it could just turn to shit in a nanosecond and I'm going to be stranded miles away from the car with no hope of getting them both back. At least if I could strap him in and just walk I could mitigate any disasters.

Thank you

Mountain buggy urban double goes up to 25kg per child and they're cheaper than the duet as they're older models. Excellent buggy, really easy to push even with weight difference. You could get one for £50 on eBay if you tried, or easily under £100 for a nice one with rain cover and possibly carrycot.

I have the Phil and Teds Navigator and it is used every day for my tall 3.9 yr old who weighs about 16.5kg (she has some mobility issues in case anyone is feeling judgy Hmm) and 16 month old who is about 12kg.

Both seats recline - not flat but enough for napping. That's the main advantage of the Navigator over many other P&Ts.

Works fine. I have no idea if they are over the weight limit, never checked, it's second hand so warranty is long gone anyway. Goes up kerbs fine. Tyres are air tyres so need pumping occasionally. Not much basket space but get round that by hanging stuff from the handle. And it works with a buggyboard in single mode if and when your DS becomes more reliable.

Also lots available second hand for not silly money.

That sit and stand looks perfect!

The main seat on the Phil and Teds Navigator has a weight limit of 20kg. We've not used ours as a double yet (still pregnant!) but our tall 2 year old has loads of room in the main seat.
I would also second trying them somewhere first though if you're looking at a few models - some of them are tiny seats.

Seems like every reasonably priced option is a million miles away. I found a sit and stand on eBay but it's 75 miles away in a direction we never go in. The Navigators are either crazy money or reasonable and nowhere near. I shall keep looking though!!

Thank you!

My city mini is only a single seat (so obviously not suitable) but is 30kg limit. Just saying that they are available.

Look for American brands.

I bloody love my Phil and Teds Explorer for my 2.10yr old (average weight but tall) and 5-mth old (massive). I usually have the baby in the lower seat now but either way works. It cost me about £70 second-hand, and then I bought a second-hand Sport second seat separately, as those ones recline. Seriously, I'd be lost without it! If I had twins or a much-smaller age gap I'd get a BJCM GT though - great buggies.

Sleep I found my P&T navigator on ebay (I think - might have been gumtree), it was advertised as collect only (miles away) but I messaged the seller and she agreed to post for a bit of extra £. Worth trying.

I have an abc design zoom for a almost 4 year old and a 2 year old. It's quite heavy but steers easily and isn't too difficult to get up curbs even with the bigger one in the front.
